HALP.

KieranFretwell

My retarded c***ing sister spilled a can of pop onto my computer and some went inside, it was turned on at the time and i immediately unplugged it. Here are some pictures as far as i can tell it has gone on the gpu, motherboard, cpu waterblock and psu. only on top of the psu and waterblock which i could probaly wipe off easy i just thought i would include it. I just want to know what to do i have never been in this situation i cant let them dry out because its not water.

Isopropyl alcohol. Rub a little on. Let it sit for a week. Make sure nothing is sticky then. Reinstall. Then apologize to your sister for calling her that.

Sounds like a plan, but forget the last part.

Get like %70 or higher isopropyl alcohol and clean all the pop off as if it were thermal paste, going to have to really spend a lot of time cleaning it. Like even after you thi k you got it all off keep cleaning. Use Q tips and coffee filters and dont be afraid to use a lot of alcohol as it will all evaporate so use abunch to get all the pop.

no need to wait a week really if you clean it with alcohol

it evaporates before your eyes in seconds

just make sure you get all the nasty stuff off

and as Vendetta said, clean it once or twice more, even after you think it's clean

and since you're from EU as i am

i use 2-propanol (that's how it's labeled here), 99% alcohol that you can get 1l for 3-4€ in any paint store

A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it.

im trying to figure out what swear word starting with a C and ends with  "ing".
Isopropyl alcohol should clear the soda off, and as far as the PSU goes, you can use things like a paintbrush with a very VERY light coating of the alcohol to get off what you can if you arent comfortable opening it.
Hopefully you ripped the power before any soda got on it. If you did, your PC should be fine after cleaning the liquid off.

Instead of just cleaning it with Qtips, and this might sound stupid, why not just dunk each component in rubbing alcohol (it would take alot of alcohol, granted) swish it around a bit, maybe let it soak for a minute or 2, and then remove, blow dry, then let it air dry and or dry in a large bag or other container with rice and or silica packets for about a week?

Sounds stupid probably, but in my mind, dunking each component would be better (in my mind) at making sure you get ALL that soda out.

If I'm wrong please tell me why, just curious.

Why not? it would be sure to get everything, although any thermal paste would be affected.

Seriously though, other than thermal paste, why not? It's rubbing alcohol, what damage can it do as long as you dry it off after a minute or two?

it is a thin liquid so it is possible to "soak" into the PC if not done correctly.

Also, capacitors can carry a charge for a long time and dunking it in a liquid could cause a short and ruin your board. Just take the time to wash it by hand.
