Custom Gaming PC Build

Ive been looking around for parts for a gaming pc build and put together some of the parts but I need some help with picking out some parts. (note, none of these parts have been ordered yet and plan on using 4k monitor)

CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor

Motherboard: Asus maximus VI Extreme ATX LGA1150 Motherboard

RAM: Corsair dominator platinum 16gb (2x8) DDR3-2400 Memory

Soundcard: Asus Xonar Phoebus 24-bit 96KHz sound card

Power Supply: LEPA 1375W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply

Storage: 2x Intel® 730 Series 480GB Solid State Drive

              2x Seagate Desktop 3 TB HDD SATA 6 Gb/s NCQ 64MB Cache 7200 RPM

Those are the main components i picked out. Right now I am trying to decide what graphics cards to go with and need some help deciding. I am thinking geforce 780 ti's but hearing other peoples thoughts would be great as well. Then The case Im looking at is a corsair graphite series 760t and need to know there is enough room for liquid cooling with some other components as well.Lastly what is the best custom liquid cooling that I could get for this pc to get it to run at its best?

Thanks to anyone who helps me out.

Looking nice! I would look at LTT vid on building a 4k rig.

But like the peep up above said its a little hard to find something with full 4k support that your gonna play your games at ultra is prolly not going to happen unless you want to smash like 4 titans in there. lol.

Maybe wait for the Maxwell GTX880, if the rumors are correct then in november they will be released (but those are just rumors)

If you are just doing gaming don't go Titan but rather 780Ti or Sli 770's

What is your budget?

"Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people."

Main rig:

i7-4790 - 24GB RAM - GTX 970 - Samsung 840 240GB Evo - 2x 2TB Seagate. - 4 monitors - G710+ - G600 - Zalman Z9U3

Other devices

Oneplus One 64GB Sandstone

Surface Pro 3 - i7 - 256Gb

Surface RT

Server:

SuperMicro something - Xeon e3 1220 V2 - 12GB RAM - 16TB of Seagates

-Snip-

I think I'd go crossfire 290s (Sapphire TriX versions in particular) before getting a Titan for 4k gaming...

A few suggestions. A Z97 motherboard with excellent sound. You shouldn't need a separate sound card unless it has inputs/outputs not available on the motherboard.

A single 1TB ssd. If the intention was to run the 480GB in your build in RAID 0 I would suggest reading http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/ssd-raid-benchmark,3485-13.html before doing so. In gaming and general desktop use the difference in the performance of various same generation ssd models is not perceptible.

I presumed the 2xhdd was intended for a RAID array so I am suggesting WD Red which are designed for desktop RAID arrays. If not the Seagates are as good as anything else.

A Titan Black gpu. If one wants to run 4K it is a minimum. A second one can be added if needed.

A slightly smaller psu. Even that is probably far more than needed, even with a custom loop.

All the components are very high quality.

I would avoid 4K at present as i don't think it is quite there yet. You would be better going for something like a 1440p monitor such as the Asus 27" PB278Q.

With your budget i would say either 780 ti sli or 290x cf. What currency is that 4-5K ?

An interesting question. The R9 290 is arguably the best value. The GTX 780 Ti has better performance but at a higher cost. If budget is not a big factor I would probably suggest the GTX 780 Ti.

Now it comes down to which version to buy

From Asus to MSI etc. Which would be the best choice for a 780 ti

Also is there a big defrence between 6gb and 3gb cards

There is very little difference in performance. Arguably Gigabyte Windforce is the fastest while EVGA w/ACX runs cooler and quieter.

More vram only makes a difference when working at higher resolutions, e.g. 4k.

Now what about when it comes to liquid cooling and will the case have enough room in it for that?

Holy crap, going for $4000-$5000 computer! O_O

Not saying I haven't seen someone go like that, but jeez you've probably been saving up :D

Yea with full liquid cooling and eventually 4 video cards

i like going all out xD

Nothing about custom cooling loops. A good place to ask questions about such is the Water Cooling forum.

uhhh, if you're going the quad SLI route, you'll need a workstation board. And probably an x79 cpu, not z97. I suggest wait 2 months for x99, and get a 5930k and a 780 ti. If you can wait, that is. If you can't wait just get a 4930k on a WS board

Edit: and use a caselabs case if you want to watercool

Specs: 4790k | Asus Z-97 Pro Wifi | MX100 512GB SSD | NZXT H440 Plastidipped Black | Dark Rock 3 CPU Cooler | MSI 290x Lightning | EVGA 850 G2 | 3x Noctua Industrial NF-F12's

Bought a powermac G5, expect a mod log sometime in 2015

Corsair is overrated, and Anime is ruined by the people who watch it
