Acrylic GPU backplate.

Go to solution Solved by W-L,

Quite high i think, but i'll have to check, cos you can bend it with a heatgun so that might be an issue...

Nice equipment, it shouldn't be a problem adding a backplate to the GPU, you may need to sources some nylon or plastic washers and longer screws if you plan to use original mounting points for the GPU cooler. Also I wouldn't worry about temperature since in general acrylic's melting point is usually 160 degrees Celsius.

So at school there is a laser cutter that can cut 3 and 5mm acrylic to a design made with techsoft's 2d design. I have recently bought an R9 290 and was wondering if an acrylic backplate would be ok and not damage anything? thoughts?

I don't see why it would be bad. I'm pretty sure I've seen people who have done it before. I guess the only risk will be taking off the stock cooler

It would not be an issue, the card might get hotter as air would not be cooling the back of the board but Im not 100% on that

How high temperatures can acrylic tolerate?
