Do i need an anti-virus program like mcaffee

If Yes, wich one should i get (preferabel free)

No, you just need your brains.

But if you don't have one, get Avast.

Well, you can do just fine with a good firewall, but it never hurts to be safe. I use Avast personally, I find it's slightly less intrusive than other programs.

Microsoft Security Essentials is very good and free.

And use common sense.

It doesn't hurt to have a decent firewall and something like avira or kaspersky. I personally wouldn't go for mcafee, there are better solutions out there.

Avast, mallware byte and bitdefender are properly the top three anti-virus programs out there.

Yeah they are pretty shocking, it basically does nothing

Hmmm, I guess it's time for a new Antivirus software. I don't go anywhere unfamiliar, but having an AV gives me piece of mind...however, having one that, according to that link, offers little to no protection does not give me piece of mind.

you can still get malwarebytes lifetime licenses on ebay :D

I ended up downloading Panda; it seems to be the best compromise for a free AV.

MSE/Windows Defender is good enough.
