Computer freezes, audio skips when opening gpu tweak or msi afterburner

So every time I open up GPU Tweak or MSI Afterburner, particularly when I have a video playing in Chrome, my computer freezes, the cursor stops responding, and the audio skips on the last sound that was played.

 

At first I had GPU Tweak installed, and I thought uninstalling that and then installing Afterburner would fix the problem, but unfortunately no lock. Does anyone have a fix for this?

 

Specs:

4690k @ stock

Asus DCu II OC R9 290

MSI Z97 GAMING 5 Motherboard with newest BIOS(I recently updated to fix a KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR)

HyperX Fury RAM

WD Blue 1TB

Corsair RM 750W PSU

Windows 8.1 64-bit

So has no one had this problem? It's really annoying having to shut off all video playback when I want to open it.

I had that issue and it turned out to be RAM. However it's recently been popping back up even tho my RAM is fine.
