Philips teased new monitors that will be shown in IFA 2014, including a 40 inch 4K monitor

As IFA 2014 is coming closer and closer, companies started to tease what they will be showing in IFA this yr. Philips has issued a press release, teasing new monitors that will be shown in IFA.

Aside from the 3440x1440 21:9 monitor ( which probably use the LG panels), and 144Hz G-Sync monitor, one thing did surprise me is the 40inch 4K display (not TV, this press statement is all about upcoming new monitors), which probably use the same panel as the new generation Seiki monitors, and Philips is the 2nd manufacturer adopting this size bracket into their product lines. Is that a new trend now, for having a larger screen in size?

Anyone who clocks up hours of screentime will appreciate the brand-new SoftBlue Light display: with its innovative anti-blue light technology, the display eliminates emissions of blue light at harmful wavelengths, helping to mitigate the negative impact on eyes and improve well-being, but without compromising colour and image quality.

Superior resolution is provided by the new 21:9 Panoramic Ultra Wide Screen, which delivers a resolution of 3440 x1440 for heavy-duty multitasking and data applications, and the UltraClear 4K UHD,which delivers unrivaled sharpness and brilliance with four times the detail and resolution of standard displays. In addition, with users showing an increased appetite for screen space, MDD will also exhibit 32-inch and 40-inch displays.

Designed with graphics professionals in mind, a new 27-inch display with Adobe SRGB technology will also make a showing. This feature ensures colour consistency across every application and simplifies workflows.

For a gaming experience with wow factor, MMD will present its first 144 Hz gaming monitor with NVIDIA ® G-SYNC TM technology, which syncs screen refresh with the output of the computer graphic card to reduce tearing and stuttering. Also on show will be the Ambiglow technology: Ambiglow lights the wall behind the screen, enlarging the gaming experience past the boundaries of the screen.

Style matters: the iconic Moda 2 design, with glossy white or black finish, complements any interior.

Smart All-in-One touch displays will be available to try out - bringing the Android world to larger screens, these standalone multimedia systems can be used to run exciting Android apps.

But how many people really want a 40" 4K monitor?

Maybe I'm wrong but I find monitors tough to use at a desk past around 30" (at least in 16:9)

I would rather see more 24-30" 4K offerings than 40" options.

Sorry, but over 30" is way too much. Hell, I have a 37" TV and I would not like having that as my primary monitor.

Actually, 27" might even be my limit, because my ultimate goal is to have a 3+1 setup.
