I bought a 4790k, should be here tuesday/wednesday.

Bought it from a friend's buddy that says it does 5 ghz on the stock cooler, but has not been stress tested. I should be able to up the voltage a tiny bit and have it stable at 5 under stress tests.

Quick update, and a sad one too.

I'm not 100% sure when I'll be watercooling(I will 100% be though), a few of the things I sold had to get shipped to florida, new york, maine, canada.

Shipping costs were huge for me since I live in Oregon, I had taken into account shipping prices + money I'd get from selling the old junk, but the shipping costs were nearly 2x what I had assumed.

I'll do my best to get the funding ASAP, but i'm probably gonna be like ~200-300$ short.  Hopefully my mom will pay me back some of the huge amount of $ she owes me, so I can finish the build log ASAP.

On a good note though, tomorrow my SP120 + fan splitter PCB shows up, and Wednesday the 4790k should be here. My custom cables should be here this week as well.

The 290x lightning should be here next week-ish, depending on when the guy gets it back from RMA.

Hopefully by the end of the week I'll have pictures of what everything will look like air-cooled. (minus the GPU)

I think the m power + yellow sp120's + cables will look beautiful tbh

Sorry if I disappointed anyone :c  I'm doing my best to finish it as fast as possible.

ok guys so I'm sorta pissed off

I bought a fan splitter PCB with 8 4 pin fan connectors, and one "input" 4 pin fan connector.

Turns out the "input" is male... which makes NO SENSE

WTF modmytoys?

Makes no sense to me, and of course to buy the cable is like another 8$ (which I didn't see anywhere on the page when I bought the PCB)

Part of this is my fault for not zooming in on the picture, but at the same time, why would it have a male input and not female? that makes absolutely no sense to me.

I had to splice two of my extensions together, to make a 3 pin to 3 pin female to female cable, and it's half-assed until the new cable shows up.

I could have told you about the modmytoyz disaster PCBs, sorry I didn't see this till now. My go-to hubs are NZXT Grid (original, with the modification done as listed in my log) for 3-pin devices and Swiftech 8-way PWM splitter for, well, PWM devices.

I have some 4 pin, and some 3 pin... What PCB would you recommend?

Mind telling more? How do you have them in the case exactly?

I have 3 PWM, 3 3-pins, on a Radiator.

Then I have 5 that are all 3 pins, as case fans.

Guessing those are SP120s with PWM on one side and 3-pins on the other? Best thing would be to get 3:1 3-pin and PWM splitters for each set. Don't go with a PCB board that offers a mix of each- they never really work as advertised. If you got more questions, I will glad to talk over PM or in my thread. I don't want to spam this one too much :P

The PCB works, but I don't understand why the F*** the input would be a male connector, and not a female.  It's the INPUT for christ sakes.

Is it me or does the yellow have a slight green tint to it?

I like the color scheme of Noctua fans. Deal with it. Forget about the bad memories of the past.

Hello everyone, just got my 4790k from a guy that claimed it did 5ghz on the stock cooler, he said it was never stress-tested, I'm going to play with it all night and see if I can get 4.8-5 stress-test stable tonight and see what I can do.

Thermals are great with my 212 evo so far as well, 4.6 ghz and only hits like 67c under 100% load.

Here's some pictures of what I threw together so far, I have to wait until friday for my fan splitter PCB extension cable, then the cables in the front of the case will no longer be there.

Just a quick post guys, my o2 + odac, if it's plugged in when I boot into windows, I get a failed USB initialization code on my debug LED, if I unplug the odac+o2, it boots fine.

I will contact @MayflowerElectronics , as well as MSI and see if I can get this sorted out.  (I think jayztwocents had the same issue with his o2+odac with his EVGA z97 classified board)

I tried using the onboard audio for my LCD-2's, and they get to reasonable listening volumes, and the sound is actually very very close in quality to my o2 + odac. I did notice the onboard has more bass though, but it's not quite as... "Clear?" I guess is the word I could use to describe it.

Hopefully I can get this figured out, because I really don't want to sit here and unplug+plug in my odac+o2 everytime I boot, that's just retarded.

Contact MSI. There's nothing wrong with the ODAC and like jay, they need to fix the bios.

I figured that was the issue, I'll definitely send them an email tonight, it's hella annoying having to unplug it all the time when I'm messing with overclocks in the bios.
