Small update, just pictures mostly.

 

 

The guy that was making LED's for my 970's has come down with the flu, then got a stomach virus afterwards, so it's already been delayed a month for the LED PCB's for my 970s.

I'm really not sure when the heck he's going to finish, so until then I probably won't make many updates.  Sorry for making these updates so few and far between lately, I've been waiting for this guy but it's been taking forever :/.

 

BTW the GPU's look like they're sagging in the pictures, I think it's because of the crappy angle, but they don't actually sag that much.

Yeah I tried to pull the blades of my fan by just pulling. Doesn't work.

I pulled off entire hub, and a bit of the frame it was attached to.

So now I have a fan with no frame

I'm most likely going to buy an R5 when it's released, or a different case (Haven't decided yet) so I figured it'd be best not to go through with the rest of my plans of removing the optical bays + doing some other modding to this case, as I'll probably be re-selling it soon.

 

I've been trying to decide what case I will be getting, because if I do finally decide to watercool, I want a lot of rad space for future expandability + nice and low fan RPM speeds.

 

 

There's loads of options, but I'm unsure what I will be getting, as my case "criteria" is quite strict.

 

 

I like the Air 540, but it wouldn't let me do thick radiators without problems and I've have to figure out where to put the res, I like the r4/r5, but the window is to small. I like the Phanteks entho, but I feel it's to big for my needs, and I don't like the weird HDD bay cover thing like the H440 has.

 

The 750D is ok, but having used a 900D previously, I don't know if I'd use a 750D, as it's probably just as flimsy.

Air 540 can mount a res in the back next to PCI slots. it has a honeycomb cut out ventilation hole thingy that you could use to mount res brackets to

Yep, in the process of switching to X99 as we speak, ordered motherboard and RAM so far.

 

CPU will be next week or so.   I'm going to be binning the CPU's myself though, the Fry's electronics next to my house has a return policy on CPU's, as long as it's not damaged and I have the original packaging & receipt they'll give me a full refund.

I'll figure out a way to keep buying and returning them until I get one that overclocks as well as I'd like.

Here's a current progress picture with the new 780 TI and a temporary CPU & motherboard out of my cousin's PC.

 

When the new motherboard shows up and I get the CPU I want, then I will be ordering orange sleeved wires from icemodz to replace the yellow ones, as well as re-painting the rings to orange, or maybe a silverish color. Haven't decided yet.

The speeds I want out of it are like $700 and out of stock.

 

I want one that'll do 4.5 or 4.6 at less than 1.3v, and the one that does 4.5 @ 1.32v is $30 more than Fry's has em for.

Because the SOC Champion x99 board is one of the best if not the best overclocking board right now, and that's the board I bought.

I may try out dry ice overclocking in the future, where the features and build quality will show their worth.

Anyways it's orange and looks nice imo, so I'll switch the color scheme to have orange accents now.

@Lays But Why does the SOC Champion have only 4 RAM Slots? 

 

 

It's designed to have 4 slots, because it puts those 4 slots closer to the CPU, (closer to the memory controller) it allows more bandwidth, a cleaner signal with less interference, and makes the circuit path for the memory shorter.

 

It helps with memory overclocks, makes them more stable at higher overclocks.

 

 

It's why the SOC champion has the world record for fastest memory overclock right now.
