Hello everybody, welcome to my new build log!

Background:

I built my first PC last year, and it's been a learning experience ever since, getting more and more into it. This is definitely a great hobby! Since building it in March of 2013, I changed components around, and eventually ended up watercooling with a 900D.

I'll be reusing a few parts from my old build log, and purchasing new ones as well.  I figured the title is well suited to the contents of the build!

I never actually decided to finish it, I figured I'd wait until this build to take my time and do everything properly!

Since building the last PC in a 900D, I really didn't need much of anything I had, some of the things I really didn't need and shouldn't of purchased, but I had tons of money to spend so I didn't care much.  I've become a bit more knowledgeable about PC's since then and now know I don't need a 6 core 12 thread CPU, nor dual 780's for my everyday gaming needs. (Although it was fun having those things)

This build will be a much smaller rig, but not lacking in performance whatsoever with expand-ability if I want in the future.

Here's a few pictures of the old build:

Cables: Ice Modz most likely

Custom Loop:

CPU Block: Koolance 380i

GPU Block: Heatkiller Nickel/Black r9 290x

Radiators: Alphacool UT30 240mm, Alphacool UT60 360mm

Backplate: EK R9 290X black backplate

Tubing: 1/2" PrimoChill PETG Tubing

Other thoughts: I bought 2 used SP 120 Quiet editions, I'm going to paint the rings to match my M power, and test them versus my Gentle Typhoons, if they're not overly loud and offer similar performance to my GT's, I may switch to those for aesthetics.
I'm also not 100% sure if the EK backplate will work with the heatkiller 290x block, I compared pictures for screwholes, and it seems that it will fit, I'm going to email performance pcs + frozencpu and see if they can test it before I purchase.

I like the color scheme of Noctua fans. Deal with it. Forget about the bad memories of the past.

I can remember your old log, really liked it as you made progress with the whole setup and not just the rig.

I read in the OP that you haven't got your new desk yet, I'd get the ikea corner build your own ones if i were you.

Also, did you ever get round to painting your room and getting the new chair?

--edit--

also, let me know if you want to see how 2x24" monitors and a 750d fit on the ikea desks

Intel i7 4770k @4.5ghz, Asus Maximus VI Formula, Asus Geforce GTX 780, Corsair h100i, Corsair Neutron GTX 240gb, WD Black 1tb, Corsair 750D, Corsair AX860i w/ Sleeved Cables.

I rarely leave the build logs section.

Yeah, I was planning on an ikea desk for sure the custom "build your own" stuff. There's a store like 40minutes away!

I never got a chance to finish painting, because my desk is attached to the wall, I was going to wait until I got the ikea desk and then rip my setup apart and finish painting.

But ~90% of the room is painted, my setup is a little different now, with an o2+odac and a pair of LCD-2's, and I only have one monitor now, my PB278Q.  I will take more pictures of my setup once I get my desk hopefully.

Quick update guys!

I sent an email to Performance PC's asking if they could test fit a heatkiller r9 290x block, with an r9 290x EK backplate, they said they're going to have someone try it tomorrow and get back to me.

I'm really hoping this works, because the heatkiller backplates don't match the rest of my build, and I'm not sure I want to try painting the chrome-plated finish on the backplate.

Sidenote: I need to figure out what pattern to do on my cables, I want light-ish gray, yellow, and black. I just need to figure out in what order etc. Most likely going to order from Icemodz, since he can make cables for my EVGA 1000 P2.

(if anyone else knows anyone that can make full cables for the evga 1000 p2, please let me know)

he charges lots though I think, and I don't like paracord much I had some paracord sleeving in my old build, and the colors always seemed to look a tiny bit faded, since it's cloth instead of plastic sleeving.
