GTX 780 vs. Radeon R9 290 [HELP]

Hi Techies.
I have a problem, I have budget of $1600 and my build includes a Radeon R9 290 which I have heard is good for 1080p gaming including BF4 and such but is it really worth it to push for a Nvidia card? Should I wait a few more weeks in order for that or just go with my gut and rock with the AMD, I am in real need of help.

The R9 290 is The Best Bang For The Buck But Always Go With The Non-reference cooler

The R9 290 Out-performs the 780 in some challenges

But The 780 Isn't Worth a 100 bucks more

So Just Stick With The r9 290

The 780 and 290 trade blows in different games. The 290 is cheaper, but the 780 comes with Nvidia's software.  If you think you're going to use Shadowplay, gamestream etc. a lot, then it might be worth going for the 780, if not then just go for the 290. 

 

Also, I would go for a 2TB HDD. I find that 1TB just isn't enough.

290. Similar performance, more VRAM, no bridge for cf, usually cheaper.....the 780 is great, but too expensive for my taste.

No but seriously I think all of you for helping me out here! :) Looks like I'll be getting myself a tasty 290 and maybe a second down the road until the Titan Z becomes cheaper! Meh, who am I kidding, that thing costs more than my house.

AMD gaming evolved's game dvr works and will only get better. I wouldn't call shadowplay an advantage anymore.

In the US, yes. There was two r9 290's in there for practically the same price. I just changed the price to Australia and took one card out. Go with your build.

The only reasons why you might want Nvidia is if you want PhysX, G-Sync, their lower wattage/thermals, or perhaps Nvidia Shield; otherwise, price to performance ratio, the r9 290 is the best possible card for you to choose.

The gtx 780 is a better GPU, comes with better softwares and drivers and run's cooler and is more efficient... but all that isn't worth the premium price tag, stick to the R9 290 it also has 4GB of faster memory on a wider bus so it performs better at higher resolution.

R9 290. If you just want to game and not stream 290 is better for you. Its has more VRAM( which makes it more futureproof), it costs less, performes better than 780 and if you overclock it it would be beast. Don't get the reference card though, It runs to hot. Get Saphire. If you are woreing that Nvidia cards get more FPS, Dont. You wont notice the difference in real life.
