Azurite - The First Build In My Life

Intro:
Im 16 years old and woke up a few days after my birthday and was like "I am going to build a pc!" I know a lot about the software side of things but didn't know much about the hardware side, so i decided to build a computer. After researching for a few weeks i came up with a final build list and created the computer, it was the best thing i have ever done. So without boring you too much here is the outcome.

Outro:

Yes i do realise this may not be one of the best computer builds but i am really proud to say that i made it. It a great computer and handles all the games i play without any issues. One thing i do regret is that ugly stock cpu fan and i am hoping to change it out for a 120mm all in one liquid cooler. Appart from that i hope you all enjoy!

To be honest the non-K Core i5 is a damn fine CPU so she'll be good for a number of years yet :)

Did you buy this from a website or store or a mixture of both? Could you also post the website and/or store as it's hard to find Australian computer hardware stores and websites. Thx Mate

PCcasegear is the best online store for Australia.

Depending on what state you live in, you can also get some really good retail stores.

For instance Melbourne: MSY, Centercom, Scorptech, CPL.

i just converted this to GBP and it came out at around £880 IMO you would have been better getting a GPU from the AMD range, would have been much better for the performance / price i reckon you would be able to get an R9 280 / 280x for the same price, IDK it's australia

There's definitely room for improvement on the cable management side of things, looking a bit messy on the right hand side if you don't mind me saying, pretty good for a first try though.

I would have chosen a cheaper H87 board to go with that CPU though, but it's not a big deal.

Any suggestions for a cpu cooler?

Don't bother with 120mm AIO coolers.  Decent air coolers will cost less and provide the same or better cooling.  If you're going to go with an AIO get a 240mm at least.

Look at noctua for good air coolers.

for a locked cpu, you would be able to easily get away with a corsair h60 and run the fan at very low rpm.  or you could save some cash and go for the cooler master hyper 212 evo air cooler.

if you're really set on a liquid cooler though, the h60 is a good one from a (mostly) reputable company and with a 5-year warranty.  I have the h80i, and I like the ease of use of the mounting bracket, which is the same as the h60.

good job on your first build, it'll be a nice capable rig for you, and that cpu should leave some room for upgrades down the road. Ya it would've been nice to have a K, but hindsight is 20/20, right?

I got most of my parts from mwave.com.au, they are based in Sydney but they do deliver outside of here. I also used pcmeal.com, they are based near mwave but are a bit more expensive.

Yeah i just read the title again as was like oops that was worded wrong and i fixed that up.

I have been looking at the h80i purely for the looks, and something to spice it up a bit. As for the cpu upgrades i look back and always feel stupid because i could of bough a k for like an extra $50 but you live by your mistakes. Its a good computer and serves me well.

Though that is a good project idea- make a PC out of the best components avaliable at the time of your birth. Sounds like a plan for my 25th birthday. :D

h80i would be a bit of overkill on that chip.  you can save a good $40 on pccasegear's site by going with the h60, and you get very similar looks, and minus one fan, it's quieter than the h80i. Also, don't believe the hype about CorsairLink.  It's terrible and you're better off without it.
