Hello users of the forum, I am planning on buying a gaming pc and am thinking about buying this computer from Costco:

http://m.costco.com/HP-Pavilion-500t-Desktop-%7C-Intel-Core-i5-.product.100122032.html

And pairing it with this r9 270 graphics card:

http://m.newegg.com/Product/index?itemnumber=14-127-769

I'll probably need to upgrade the power supply so which 500w would you guys reccomend? I'd like to keep the psu cost under $50, closer to $30.

Will this graphics card fit and be compatible with this computer? I will overclock the gpu, so is 500w enough? Btw building my own is not an option. Thanks for all the help!

Edit: just saw the last bit. Why isn't building one an option?

If you build one yourself you will spend less money.

I wouldn't dare spend such a small amount ($30$) on a PSU. Buying a cheap PSU which is not rated can destroy components in your system, costing much more than a decent PSU in the first place.

Rig - Processor: Intel core i5 3570k @4.3GHz, Motherboard: Asus P8Z77-V LX, GPU: XFX HD 7950 DD, with a Kraken G10 and Kraken X40, RAM: Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz 4x4GB, HDD: Seagate 1.5TB, Cooler: Xigmatek Prime SD1484, Case: Phantom 530

Peripherals - Monitor: Acer 24-inch 1920x1080, Keyboard: Microsoft Sidewinder X4, Mouse: Logitech G9x, Headphones: Turtle Beach PX21, Mousepad: Steelseries QCK

@NeatSquidYT @nuclear465 I don't think I can get an i5, a 1tb hdd, 8gb of ram, a 500w psu, a windows key, and an r9 270 for under the $710 this computer would cost me. And I'm completely unfamiliar with building my own, I'm much more comfortable with adding a part.

@Mincygrape ok thanks, what psu would you reccomend? There's a cx 500w for $50, but could a get a major brand for less?

Is an r9 270 compatible with the Costco ones motherboard? That's my main concern

Yeah if it has a haswell chip it probably has at least 1 PCI-E slot.

For a PSU I'd suggest http://www.newegg.com/

My Rig "Corsair air 540, MSI Z87-G45, i5 4670k, EVGA ACX 780, Gskill sniper 2x8gb 1866 memory, Corsair CX500m modular 80+ bronze, corsiar h100i, toshiba 1.5tb HDD." / Peripherals "Acer H226HQLbid Black 21.5" (Main monitor), Acer S200HLAbd Black 20" (auxiliary), Razer blackwidow ultimate 2013, razer naga 2013, razer goliathus 444x355 speed edition, Sennheiser HD8 DJs"

Also for the GPU i'd grab the http://www.newegg.com/Product/it's small and has a pretty solid rebate right now and free games.

Yes it should be able to take R9 270 if it is haswell. Dont skimp on PSU, money will return on your electricity bill. I was using cheap 15$ 400W PSU in my old PC and now I got 80+ gold 550W PSU for 85$ ... I saved over 100$ for this year on electricity just by changing that. Also that old PSU destroyed 1 motherboard which was extra cost... just dont skimp on PSU it is important.

Also as it was said.. you can build PC with same specs for cheaper or better for same price.

@theroflcopta Awesome! Thank you! The site said the board had "3x PCIe (x1) mini socket slot" so that would work for the gpu? That psu looks fantastic, thank you!

Get windows here and price goes down by over $80 https://www.g2a.com/windows-8-professional-32-64-bit-cd-key-global.html

Also I doubt that in this system there is 4690k i5. That is also extra price down.

The point of the build I have him was to show him that pre built pcs are overpriced and you can get better parts for less :)

I meant the psu

Yes it is good. OEM for EVGA is SuperFlower as far as I know so no need to worry about it.

Im sorry I dont get it :D

If I understand correctly you are trying to show him that he can get better for cheaper. But you made more expensive build without GPU and if you add GPU it will be almost $800.

There I made build for you which is the same also cheaper.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/ZqDXJx

+ windows https://www.g2a.com/windows-8-professional-32-64-bit-cd-key-global.html

Which is total $608,73 compared to your prebuild + PSU + GPU which is almost $700

That's intriguing, but the site has windows out of stock, and could you do that build in a mid tower atx form?
