help with verzion MI424-WR and linksys WRT54G v2.2

@Elite14 - so you take a cable from one of the MI-424 LAN ports and plug it into the WAN port of the Linksys and then you plug LAN 1 from the Linksys back to the MI-424?

 

Using a router as an access point is stupid simple to set up.

 

Step 1: Go into the administration page of the Linksys router and give it a static IP that's in the subnet of what the MI-424 provides (basically if the MI-424 assigns you the IP of 192.168.1.2, make the Linksys something like 192.168.1.200).

Step 2: Disable the DHCP server on the Linksys router

Step 3: Connect the Linksys LAN port to one of the MI-424 LAN ports

 

That should be all you need to do in order to have the Linksys router be just a dumb access point/switch. 

Hi I"m trying to hookup the linksys router to the Verizon one so i can get a better wifi signal in my room. Here is what I'm trying, there is blue ethernet cable coming from the main router (which is the verizon one) and plugin it into the internet port on the linksys (which is in router mode not gateway mode) and taking a yellow cable and plugin it into port 1 and then plugin it into my pc so it can have a wired connection. but when I do there is no internet but I can connect to it. I've tried different things but nothing has worked, I even ask my grandpa to take a look at it (scene he worked on this stuff when 300mb hdd where $3000) but he said it wasn't posable but i think otherwise. So any help is welcome

 

also the linksys is running the latest firmware version but the verizon is run firmware version  4.0.16.1.56.0.10.14.4

You have to disable DHCP on the secondary router. I think.

 

Two DHCP-servers collides.

 

You basically have to make the secondary router a switch with a wireless Access Point attached.
