If you had all the money in thr world

SirNumbers

True, it'll still reach 105dB without too much fuss tho. Something like the AKG K612 requires quite a bit more power and nearly as much vrms.

O2 should be more than enough for that, but I was just reading Nwavguy's posts right before I posted and happened to be reading about him calculating stuff for the DT880-600ohm

He sets the bar at 110db for peak.

105dB minimum. Probably enough for most of the music people listen to these days, and if you don't want to have hearing destruction.

Alright, cool, hope you enjoy.

I still prefer the LCD-X, not counting price.

LCD-X fetish?

For infinite money I might hire one of the guys at DIYAudio and pay em' to build that ODA they are working on and replace my O2 with dat.

Yeah because you will have enough power to drive the HE-6 with an O2... NOT! You will need around 6 Watt to drive those, which the O2 definitely does not supply, not even at high gain...

BTW I've been looking more closely, the ability of the O2 to drive the HE-6s. I think it's a bit close, but if you take Hifiman's rating for sensitivity you will manage with the O2. Tyll has more pessimistic figures though. I'm still looking into it. Nwavguy did some calculations with HE-6 too.

Please shower then.  ;)

I'm still trying to unscramble and decipher the hieroglyphics here: http://www.hydrogenaud.io/forums/index.php?showtopic=106087&st=25&p=870316entry870316

Also bear in mind that Tyll's rating is more pessimistic than Hifiman's specs on their website. http://www.innerfidelity.com/images/HiFiMANHE6.pdf And if anybody wants to see where NWavguy talks about the HE-6, it's here (CTRL+F "HE-6") http://nwavguy.blogspot.com/2011/07/o2-design-process.html and general specs on O2 here (scroll down) http://nwavguy.blogspot.com/2011/07/o2-headphone-amp.html

Now because I use a more realistic amplitude then 110db, in this case 50db, .005V RMS at .1ma RMS. For comparison, the 7506, .0004V at .01ma
