4k video in Youtube

Hi

Yesterday test 4K vs 1080P in yuotube and i don't see any difference watched in 2k Asus PC monitor and 1080p Samsing 46" Led TV in my eye it's looking same on youtube

So wondering is there any point filming in 4K it take much more time editing and upload vs 1080p raw version of 4K i see difference but not on youtube

Yeah... You need a 4K monitor and watch in fullscreen for the difference.

1080 TVs can't show 4K.

4K downscaled to 1080p looks better than 1080p native youtube streams, downsampling PC games looks much better than running native.

In yuobe says

2160p (4k) 3,500-4,500 kbps ( 45 Mbps )

                   and

1080p 8,000 kbps  ( 8 Mbps )  :(

4K bitrate on youtube is much higher

Sony AX100 recording 1080p XAVC S in 50Mbps so youtube 8Mbps is 1/6 orginal bitrate

So it seems 4k get lot less down conversion

Those are 2 different things.

With PC games, you do it mainly for anti-aliasing.

With video, this is not the case (as AA is not a thing in video). The reason why the 4K looks so much better on YouTube is because they compress it a lot, and compressed 4K looks better on a 1080p screen then compressed 1080p.

If you would be looking at raw 4K on a 1080p screen vs raw 1080p on a 1080p screen (same source data), you would see no difference.

Yes, for 1080p they encode 4Mb and for 4K they encode 12 AFAIK, that's why I commented above that the 4K stream looked better because there were less compression artifacts.

I suppose my last comment was poorly written because I didn't cite any actual reasons, but I do know that I just was pointing out that there can be benefits to downscaling.

Yep, basically you get higher bit rate in 4k than 1080p, which should lead into more detailed/sharp picture, even if both are watched on 1080p screen. But often the 4k videos on youtube are not that much better than a good 1080p.

How to make and upload 4k video to youtube ?

Record and upload a 4k video.

4K looks so so so much better on 1080p. Record 4k cause you can downsize to 1080p for better quality, and you can crop it 4x and it will be the same quality as 1080p.

But the blockiness and poor bitrate are somewhat improved when watching 4K YT on a 1080p screen.

4k YouTube would look better on a 1080p monitor than just watching the video in 1080p because the loss from YouTube's compression will be less noticeable. (Or something.)
