***Please Read*** Power Supply Tiers ***Quoted From EggXpert***

ddbtkd456

This is an updated PSU tier list as formally seen on the Newegg Egg Xpert forums here.

This tier list should be strongly taken in consideration before buying a Power Supply, just like the Egg Xpert Tier list. This tier list doesn't bias in efficiency ratings or personal opinions, this tier list is generated and tiered based on non-biased, genuine reviews from leading computer hardware reviewing teams such as TechPowerUp, Hexus, eTechnix, Tweaktown etc.

I will be adding more as they come available, however if you have some information to add to this, let me know. Please bring proof of the tier it belongs under too. Also please be sure to remember that power supply ratings and tiers are worldwide, meaning that the tier guide may not be accurate only in the United States.

******Credit goes to poster @ Toms Hardware Forums for mentioning this....tho this is not a direct copy since it has been extensively edited and updated, still wanted to give them credit******

Was posting it 4 times necessary?

No...my internet spazzed and didnt load it after it posted it, then all the sudden 4 of them were there. Very nice forum for posting stuff in btw, you can make really clean posts here I like that. Hopefully this will get pinned so that way anyone who asks a question will read this first.

I noticed the Earthwatts series is in both tier 2A and tier 3..

If you ever need help with a build, read the following before posting: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/3061-build-plan-thread-recommendations-please-read-before-posting/
Also, make sure to quote a post or tag a member when replying or else they won't get a notification that you replied to them.

RM1000 is missing, and the performance of the RM750/850 is considered tier 3, meaning it is getting close to the limits of the ATX specs. I don't like the RM Series is most people here will know, partly for the capacitors, but the specs are nowhere near the ATX spec. They're good units performance and silence wise. I don't see why the CWT and Chicony-made RM's are separated like that.

EDIT: Classifying the RM750/850 with the Corsair VS Series is silly.

I find lists like these to be pointless. They get out of date so quickly, are annoying to wade through, and go into no real detail. At least they're a step up from "avoid X brand entirely, only buy from Y they're awesome".

Eh I just did it up quickly since I thought it would be a good starting point for most new users.

I would prefer a system where the brand/manufacturer is the title, and each series is listed below with brief comments and recommendations.

For example.

XFX

Pro Core Edition: non-modular, 80Plus Bronze, 5 year warranty. Was XFX's lower-mainstream series a couple years back. Finding them may be hard now, but they should be fairly cheap, and they're pretty good mainstream units. No complaints.

XXX Edition Classic: etc

XXX Edition Black: etc etc

XTR...

In other words, this:

http://www.realhardtechx.com/index_archivos/Page625.htm

Although maybe easier to read. Images would be preferable. But details are still missing.

It's hard to come up with a better format that this database. It has all the links in a very easily accessible manner. All it lacks that I can think of is a short description section.

The Non tiered section has Antec, Superflower and EVGA and states: To be used at your own risk ? LOL What a load of nonsense.

There is absolutely no reason for you to be that rude...as of right now those are non-tiered. If I didn't say that it would be bias. I know alot of those power supplies are good but on a non-bias page I can't recommend them without proof.

If you've previously won the build off please pm me so we can get something worked out.

It wasn't directed at you personally so no offence intended.

Anyone that knows anything about power supplies should know that Antec (Seasonic) and Superflower are very good power supply manufacturers. The Leadex platform is probably one of the best around at present in regards to performance and value. To say 'Use these at your own risk' is just laughable.

That is true...I would like to turn this into a table instead of categorys as mentioned above however I can't figure out how to make a table in this forum.

Only because they haven't been reviewed yet by the sources used for this list. Pretty obvious!

The Superflower Leadex power supplies have got lots of reviews so I don't see your point. The 1600W version may not have been reviewed yet, but the other units on the same platform all have very good review scores. As regards to the Antec psu, well that is made by Seasonic. They don't make bad power supplies full stop. So like i said, the list is pretty inaccurate for those two.

A small indicator for cable management would be awesome. Like 'M' for modular and 'FM' for fully modular. Some other details next to their names would also be great like 80+ tier and average price (latter one is not so easy). But it's a nice list so far! :)

who cares...
