please help a noob (games freezing)

Go to solution Solved by dragoon20005,

try with Unigine Benchmarks and FireStrike

see if the computer will freeze

run Memtest

remove the Sound Blaster Z card to rule out audio troubles

Use GPU-Z ID to check temps and GPU load

hello i'm a huge fan of linus' and have had a relatively good pc for a while but recently started using it after the summer sale. i played a lot of borderlands 2, i think steam say 100 hours, and recently i think starting two days ago my game just freeze and all i could do was to ctrl+alt+del and go to task manager which would open then would put me back into the game and it would fix it until it did again. before it happen 10 minutes maybe but now it happens within minutes of loading and makes the game unplayable. ive tried other games csgo and bf3 and the same thing happens, where it freeze but ctrl+alt+del to open task manager would temporarily fix the issue. the audio also either loops, finishes the audio that was going on before the freeze (ie a character would finish their sentence), or (with spotify in the background) slow down speed up and change the pitch of the music.

my rig:

3570k with h60 cooler

asrock extreme 4 z77

670 msi twin frozer 4

corsair cx750

sound blaster z

plextor m5 pro

the temps seem to be fine >50c but that might not be too accurate since the games dont run that long but the pc never got that hot even before. i have the newest gfx driver and have updated windows

if you have any questions please ask. thanks for the help

http://www.memtest86.com/download.htm

use the Ver 5.1 USB drive version

to use onboard you just remove your GPU and go to BIOS to enable the Integrated graphics, it should be found in Peripherals/Devices options

yeah i did the unigine benchmark with the onboard graphics and it ran through the whole thing. so does this pin it on the gpu? could it be the pcie slot?

ok now try with your games

if the game crashes

i will suggest doing a fresh install to rule out software troubles

it could just be the GPU was not installed in properly but I am guessing.
