League of Legends won't launch

So, Here's the problem:

League of legends is a being a pain for me and my brother, and refuses to launch. It launches, and then proceeds to tell us this through window's lovely help window.

Program error code has never been my thing. Apparently It cannot communicate with PvP.net Patcher Kernel (the hosting service for LoL) is not responding and gives me that mess up there. Anyone have any ideas how to repair this? We have tried restarting, upon which the computer installed some needed updates, and we even tried the LoL forums, which didn't help at all, and now, I turn to you guys. Help a guy out?

Try this:

http://forums.na.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?t=2333341

This problem is most often caused by a failed self-patch of the patcher. Although we are working to resolve this issue there are a few known workarounds.

The first and most common solution is to force the patcher to repatch itself. You can do this by deleting this folder:

C:\Riot Games\League of Legends\RADS\projects\lol_launcher

If you chose a custom install path, the folder may be in a different location.

Many players also fixed this problem by disabling the UAC(Windows Vista and Win7 Only)

Here is a short guide to disabling the UAC: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windo...windows-vista/

* Be sure to use the "Never notify me when:" setting

Other less common solutions include:

- Manually Updating/Installing the .Net Framework 3.5

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/e...displaylang=en

- Making sure you are running the game as an administrator.

a) Right-Click on the short-cut

B) Select the properties tab

c) Check the box labeled "Run as administrator"

If the problem persists or you have any further questions feel free to contact me again. Please include your kernel and launcher logs in your response:

Have you repaired the program in control panel?

Other solution(s):

http://forums.euw.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?t=191365

Updating Microsoft .NET frameworks seems to be very common here. I've also had to do this with PoE, Dota or Skyrim but I don't remember which.

Sometimes it's not updated properly with Windows Update, other times it just doesn't try to download older frameworks. Either way, you end up having to do a manual download and installation.

Have you tried updating adobe air? ( http://get.adobe.com/air/ )

Do you meet minimal specs? ( http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri )

Is it blocked via your firewall? (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-au/windows/communicate-through-windows-firewall#1TC=windows-7 )

or your antivirus? (try disabling completely)    ( then open LoL as admin by right clicking )

Port forwarding wont hurt. (http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/routerindex.htm )

If all of these are okay maybe try:

  1. Uninstall League of Legends via control panel.
  2. Download from their website. ( https://signup.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/signup/redownload )
  3. Re-install. (don't press play)
  4. Uninstall pando media booster via control panel .
  5. Open the client and wait for update to complete.
  6. After the updating is complete you're all good.

And again, one of the last-ditch fixes is to uninstall and 100% clear your computer of anything from the League installer, including empty folders/directories that it was installing to. I've never downloaded it so I wouldn't know but be sure to check %appdata% (use start menu search/type it in file url bar) for League file directories, your x86 program files folder and My Documents/My Games or My Documents/NameOfGameClient (Such as Curse, Nexon, Origin, League, whatever one(s) it uses normally).

I say last-ditch effort with this because reinstallation is always a pain but there could've been a file that, for whatever reason, got corrupted or something else along those lines. It's also likely to do nothing but waste your time unless you make sure that, at the very least, you have all drivers and frameworks installed and you reinstalled w/the LoL client correctly. You can no longer blame the installation if your pc installed it cleanly, which narrows down the issues.

Reinstallation wouldn't normally be an issue, but we have tried that and still have the same issue. I usually have no problems finding a run around on PC, but this has me stumped. PC's can be real trolls sometimes.

How does one do that?

Go into Control Panel, select "Programs and Features", find the program you want to repair, right click, choose change/uninstall and repair it.

you could try just repairing the client by opening it and clicking the cogs in the top right but it will take a while and mine usually downloads about 2GB. ( I would try everything else before this )

I am truly amazed at the amount of people who have trouble updating League or just launching the patcher/game at all.
