To sell and upgrade or not?

Ok, so basically i've been to sell my current computer to a friend, to re-do my build. I had not asked for people opinions, but when i did, they all said i was crazy, and thats a bad idea. so i came here to ask all you helpful people for your opinions.
My current computer (the one i want to sell) (also i have a sale set up for $1100)
Consists of:

Mobo:Asrock Z87 Killer

CPU: Intel Core i7 4770k @ 3.5Ghz
RAM: 8gb Corsair Vengeance Pro @ 1866Mhz

HDD: 120Gb Samsung 840 EVO

PSU: Antec High Current Gamer 620w Modular
GPU Evga GeForce GTX 770SC 2Gb

CASE: Thermaltake Chaser A31 Blue

So, considering i could get $1100 for that build i decided to base my next build as closely around there as possible, But without the CPU, Now my way around this is the Intel Pentium G3258 Followed by these parts:
MOBO:ASUS Maximus VII Ranger
CPU:Intel Pentium G3258 ------ LATER to be upgraded to an
i5 4690K
PSU:EVGA SuperNova 750w
RAM:8Gb Corsair Vengeance Pro 2133Mhz
CPU COOLING:Corsair H105 Liquid Cooler.
HDD: 60GB CORSAIR F Series SSD + Some other random drives for room.
CASE: Fractal Design Arc Midi R2

GPU: R9 290x Overclocked 3Gb.

Pretty much the benefit i see here are newer parts, but i will also gain a watercooler, and nice fun cpu to play around with.
Please let me know what you think, or any smarts plays or alters i can do to the build, Or if i should just stick with my current build.

I think the G3258 is kinda a bottleneck for the R9 290X. In my opinion, I would keep the i7 and if you have some spare money, you can buy the Corsair AiO watercooler.

Ah. I meant the R9 280x, I'll fix that in the morning. And does that change your thoughts at all. And also do you think once I got the i5 it would be worth it?

Yeah. I think I will. Plus I can just get a water cooler for this one and be just as happy.

Don't do it!

Truthfully, your current build is more powerful than your planned "upgrade"... If you have the spare cash, either buy a new GPU (something like 290x), or upgrade your PSU and go with SLI (if your Mobo supports it).

If you can sell it all and buy a new rig I say do it. For gaming the eventual 4690k will be perfect minus 3dmark scores but who cares about that. Do it man.

Your current build is by far better then the other one, stick with a GTX 770 you will get more out of it then an OC R9 280x, plus you wont run into overheating issues that is cause by a R9 280x. I also take it that you are running stock cpu cooler. You can upgrade that to an H100i. Hope this helps. One last thing how many monitors are you running?
