Do you have a tight budget? I generally don't recommend buying those box systems because to be honest they don't sound very good when compared to even entry level speakers. If you are on a tight budget then it will be ok and will work together but don't expect to be blown away.

Personally I went with a good receiver/speaker setup to go with my TV.  I plug everything HDMI or S/PDIF in to receiver.  Makes everything nice and simple.

If you buy a Sony speaker system instead of the samsung you can use one remote to control both of them.

I suggest a BDV-N8100W from Sony.

Edit:

If you want ''more'' power a receiver system with speaker is far better then home cinema sets. but no bluray player.

For $1500 he would not have been able to get a better projector. Proper home theater 1080P projectors start at $1000 and the really good ones are still over $2000. For the price, he got a much more flexible system, as projectors are even worse then Plasma TV's for direct sunlight (Or in the projectors case, sunlight or ambient room lighting at all can cause major washout of colours - at least with Plasma only direct sunlight is bad).

Yes he would. A benq w1070 would be better if he is able to get complete darkness....Its DLP but its fucking awesome i darkness...If he can't get darkness then I would suggest an Epson.

Stop living in the past. Projectors have become pretty great in sunlight(As long as its LED...DLP requires darkness....but when you have darkness, DLP is awesome...especially for the price)

Projectors get a bad rap because of how it was in the past. A LOT of things have changed the last 3-4 years.-

I completely agree - in complete darkness, a projector is fucking awesome. However, that's 100% unrealistic for the average consumer. Most of us don't have a true Home Theatre room, and can't block out light 100%, unless we wanted to limit ourselves to only watching movies after dusk.

As for projectors being "great" in sunlight? I find that incredibly hard to believe - However, I could be wrong. If you have any proof to back up that claim, such as an independent review, or a video of someone demoing a projector under normal light conditions, I'd be willing to check it out.

The main issue with projectors traditionally has been that in normal sunlight, the light washes out the colours. If you can show me proof that this is no longer the case, then I am willing to change my opinion regarding recommending projectors with this price range and under normal viewing conditions. Absolute (Or even mostly) darkness is unrealistic for a normal environment.

You are probably correct that it is unrealistic for the average consumer to make that happen..

I will concede that for this mans purpose, you are probably right...Im probably just a little eager to point out the alternative to TVs because so few consider it. But its probably more aimed at those who spend even more than 1500 dollars on a really big tv because the price skyrockets with the really big sizes.....Projectors have however become better in sunlight. But it has to be LED projectors if you will be watching it in bright conditions and it simply won't be as good as a tv....But if you mostly watch movies at night and seldom use it during the day, I would definently consider it. .It doesn't have to be complete darkness, the problem is only in direct sunlight...heavy curtains goes a long way... Reviews for the epson 6100 which is in the price range, state that the picture is watchable in daylight but not ideal.

To would recommend the OP to buy a panasonic TC-PST60 series if he can find it.....its 1500 for the 55 inch

Good points all around. I'll check out that review. And ultimately it is up to the OP to decide if a projector is suitable :) Maybe he'll decide it is?

How is it? You should post some pics, along with your thoughts on it so far (compared to your old TV and other TV's you've seen), and maybe a mini review?

It's great, will post pictures soon and the weird thing is that Xbox actually looks better on that tv than my other 1080p tv, really weird, but it might be because i plugged it in to my home theatre systeam box, which got 4K upscaling, can that be the solution? If i do a review i'll tell you ;)

Naah, I just think its a matter of simply being better. I doubt that it has to do with 4k. But might be wrong,.
