Streaming to a higher resolution

79wjd

Is there a way to stream via Steams in-home sharing to a computer with a higher resolution?

I have a rMBP with a 2880x1800 screen and I wanted to stream from my computer with a 1920x1200 screen. I just tried it and I couldn't go higher than 1920x1200, but is there some workaround to it?

Downsampling?

Yup, that's your best option.

Here's a tutorial:

force your computer to output to the resolution you want with custom resolutions. I believe you can find out in the guide in how to downsample

Could I actually just disconnect the monitor and therefore remove the 1920x1200 cap?

Edit: For the record, it doesn't work. It reverts to 640x480.

if you use ShareON, the same video quality on your phone or pc will be seen on your tv, regardless how big your screen is. usually the quality gets worse, but with ShareON if you have a HD video, you will see HD on your tv screen as well.
