What desk do you use and why? Also, can someone help me find a desk like the ikea GALANT?

darth_bubbles

I am looking for desks and I found one that I like. The Ikea GALANT(http://www.ikea.com/ca/en/catalog/products/S19806946/#/S19806946) looked perfect except for the price. Then I realized that the top isn't as long I would have liked. The thing I liked about it is that it's open in the corner instead of like this: http://www.walmart.ca/en/ip/glass-and-black-metal-corner-computer-desk/6000119380229

Anyways, I was wondering what desks you use and if you knew about one that would be good for me.

I have a white Ikea micke desk, but haven't put it up yet, waiting to move before I do. The depth of the desk isn't very deep though so gonna fix a shelf to a wall and mount it just above the desk and then put the desk under it a little further out to add more space between my square eyes and the display.

I have a custom L-shaped desk by National furniture that is made of solid 2 inch thick cherry oak wood. The desk cost me right around $4,000 even. I bought this desk because of the high quality it is built out of and the thing weighs 1250 pounds, so it is basically unstealable. I can tell that this desk will last me a very long time before i will ever have to think about replacing it.

My wife has a really nice desk as well, its the Collins Executive Desk from Havertys http://www.havertys.com/Product_43911

My wife and I live descent, you can say ( we both have good paying jobs ). We don't do much partying or anything like that, we just put most of our money towards stuff we enjoy and want. Our priority is living nicely, we want the whole picture not just some of it. For an example, I see a lot of people that have extremely nice builds $4,000 - $10,000+, but then have an ok desk that its sitting on, I feel that if you are willing to spend that much money on a very nice PC, why not have it sit on something that is just as expensive and elegant as the PC.

An old ass antique captains desk off of some kind of ship. I know it weigh's enough that it must me made from unobtanium. (or adamantium, take your pick).

It looks nice, but not enough leg room, and it sucks for a keyboard.

Don't go for a glass desk, they get super dirty real quick, and if you know it too hard, you can chip it and make it look horrible.

If I were you, I'd go with a solid, thick wooden desk.

Yes she does, but she is married as well lol. Other down side to her sister is that she is not a PC geek like my wife :D

Considering the currency you're using, I'm guessing you live far away from me.

Just checked: based on the size of the package, you'd pay at least 200€ for shipping to Slovenia. Sorry but you're better off buying a new one locally :)

I got my desk for free. The top wasn't bad, it was just too small. So, I got a slab cut at the local lumber supply and they even rounded the edges. All I had to do was a light sand, stain, ply clear, light sand, and a few more poly clear coats. It screwed in like the original.

My advice, find a solid desk where the top can be removed and replace it with a new top. Pics in my build link.
