HTC One M8 Review (4 month heavy use)

C6ZR1

So theres been some controversy with the new M8 with regards to its camera quality but praises with build quality and general software design. To the general masses, camera quality is one of the top factors in choosing a phone. I was on the fence about the M8 and finally decided to get it as I had been satisfied with their phones in the past. (4g LTE, Original Evo). So heres my score and overall verdict of the phone.

  • Build Quality / design: 10/10 - Absolutely gorgeous design and superb quality used.

  • Feel: 9.5/10- Its a very well build phone, feels very nice in the hand but the only small complaint is that the back side is somewhat slippery, if you put it a pockets that does not have a lot of friction (ie: basketball shorts) and you sit down, it will easily slip right out of the pocket.

  • User Interface / Software: 10/10: I've always been a fan of HTCs UI, its simplistic, fast, very easy to use and offers great customization without feeling to bogged down or slow.

  • Camera / camera features & customization: 7/10-  Ah yes, the camera, there's no way of getting around this part of the review. If you plan to just keep the photos on your phone, Instagram, Facebook etc. then the camera is decent as the lack of picture quality wont be seen and appear to be fairly good. The second you start to zoom in on a picture though, things change dramatically and the lack of megapixels becomes very apparent. Moreover, the tools offered with the camera are a mixed bag;  Ufocus is marginal at best, the seasons & stickers tool looks cheesy but the dimension plus and touch up tool are very nice.

  • Battery Life 10/10-  Coming from a HTC 4G LTE whose battery life would last 8 hours (with power saving and doing nothing), the battery life has been amazing, I've gotten about 12 hours of heavy use (clash of clans addict + music + random web surfing ) with full brightness and no power saver options.

I've been super busy lately but will try to get photos up of the phone as well as some pictures i've taken with it!

When life gives you lemons make orange juice and leave the world wondering how the hell you did it.

Battery life? I know that it is a great phone, but how long does the battery survive under heavy use?

Intel 4790k | Asus Z97 Maximus VII Impact | Corsair Vengeance Pro Series 16 GB 1866Mhz | Asus Strix GTX 980 | CoolerMaster G550 |Samsung Evo 250GB | Synology DS215j (NAS) | Logitech G502 |

Having the power button on the top instead of above the volume button is extremely annoying.  I find my finger there plenty of times to execute other functions and instead I end up turning the screen on & off.  Camera is kind of weird, and the way you choose and save options to your photos is user unfriendly.  If they would have put a decent camera in the phone, could you imagine the increased amount of customers that would have purchased the HTC One M8?
