Can I Install STEAM OS on XBOX 360?!?!

Hello I was wondering if it was possible to install Steam OS on an Xbox 360. I am primarily a pc gamer but have an Xbox 360 sitting in the living room that I never use. Both of these devices are connected to the internet via Ethernet. My goal is not to try and use the xbox's hardware to play games but instead use steam in home streaming to play games on the xbox using my pc's hardware. I am not afraid to experiment and I never use the xbox 360 so if I brick it then it will be my fault but it will not be a big deal.

No, it would not work. Not to mention the 360 is way too weak to be able to run it properly.

Think I've seen Linux installed on a 360 so... maybe it's possible ? Even if it runs, I don't know if it would have the power to stream games. Linux on the PS3 was slow as [insert some funny comparaison here]

No. Not only is it a console (basically an immediate no), but the processor isn't supported by SteamOS (it's PowerPC based, as I recall, not x86).

Well that's a shame:(  Like I said I would't expect it to run games, I would instead stream them.

Do you have a laptop? Hook it up to your TV and you can do in home streaming.

The only thing that keeps me from doing it is my internet. Well mainly my router.

LOLNO. First, you need full access to a BIOS, and then you need to set it to boot from USB.  Also, the Xbox 360 has a weird architecture not supported by the Linux kernel.

You could build a custom mini-ITX PC in it and run Steam OS on that, and integrate a wireless controller adapter into the thing. There are tons of tutorials on such things. Search for "PC build in Xbox 360"

If you don't want to ruin your console. Just get a broken one and use that :D

OK... first, you don't necessarily need to access any kind of BIOS or "boot from USB." you just need to be able to run unsigned code. second, the Linux kernel is open source, so you can compile it to run on any architecture at all. third, people can and have successfully run Linux on the xbox 360. this is why you shouldn't act like someone asking a reasonable question is stupid ... especially when you clearly know little more than they do but believe yourself to be intellectually superior. this has been a PSA from your friendly neighborhood angry nerd.

you have a point. I should've been less hasty to say that ALL Linux OS's can't be run on Xbox 360.  However, SteamOS requires x86 or x86_64, which I don't think the Xbox 360 runs on (correct me if I'm wrong).
