Too be honest, I think you may need to give more info as to what you want to shoot and how you want to shoot it.  Are you going to be doing close-up shots or full body shots of someone talking?  What kind of light are you looking to achieve?  You may need a soft box or two or a beauty dish depending on what you want the video to look like.  What ever tripod you get, make sure that it is rated to carry the weight of the camera and accessoies that will be attached.

I don't shoot video but I do shoot photos.  There are so many options out there that you may get a better answer if you give a bit more information in regards to your project.

Good luck and I hope you have fun with it!

I would recommend picking up either a 5D Mark II or a C300 but anything with a high bitrate is great for green screen work. You'll need some lights for the green screen, so pick up two 1x1 Litepanels. For lenses I would recommend a 24-70mm f2.8L or 70-200mm f2.8L (whatever suits your needs) from Canon or the equivalent from another company. If the camera you rent has XLR inputs then you shouldn't need a recorder, but if you get something like the 5D Mark II then you will need a Zoom H4n. For microphones you should look at the Sennheiser G3 Wireless Lav Mic or Sennheiser ME66 /ME77 Shotgun Mic if you don't want a lav in you shot. Some other things you need include: a tripod, SD cards, and XLR cables but those are fairly easy to find. This advice will apply to most shooting scenarios, not just green screen work.

Pricing:

5d Mark II £120 / C300 £360

2x 1x1 LitePanels £120

24-70 f2.8L + 70-200f2.8L £180

Zoom H4n £30

Sennheiser G3 Wireless Lav £45

Sennheiser ME66 /ME77 Shotgun Mic £30

Total :£525/£765

Rent yourself a Canon 5D MK III instead of Canon 5D MK II. It has better anti aliasing (helps with moire patterns) built in, my 5D MK II can sometimes make un-useable shots because of the horrible aliasing I get from it. It is ment to much improved on the 5D MK III however.

I would also choose a nice prime lens such as a 50mm or 85mm. Lower aperture the better i.e f/1.2 - f/1.4 - f/1.8.

I would also try and hire a matte box rig. I.e matte box, follow focus, rails etc. This sort of stuff can help out a lot, mainly talking about the follow focus. This stuff shouldn't be that much extra to hire out.

Also try and get yourself a circular polariser for the lenses. Always very handy!!

Canon 5D Mk3 to a 7D if you're semi pro. I'd say a prime lens would be better than a zoom.
