What's your Internet plan's speed?

so I'm getting 13Mbs down and .6Mbs up is there any way I can increase my upload speed? I don't get why it would be so slow but it's been like that since we got internet

Are you with CenturyLink? I think we're on the same plan. I'm paying for 25mb/s down, 5mb/s up, and get 12down, .47up. Every time we (or, I, since I live with my grandparents...) ask them to fix it, they just give us a new router. We have four now. It's like a duping bug, in real life ._.

I really wish that we'd just make organic hardware already, that grows and adapts to the demands it needs to meet. That way, grannies' computers can be floppy sacks of organicness and the 12 year old Minecrafters will look like the guys that only do bicep curls, and the nerdy programmers will finally have justice, with their body-builder rigs that skipped leg day.

Dude. EXACT same situation here. I've asked to pay their termination fee and everything. I've tried other routers (going up to a buddy's enterprise grade router), with very minimal improvement. They don't help at all over calls or anything, and really don't do much in person either. CenturyLink is simply a poor service, and they convinced my grandparents to stick with a SIX YEAR contract, and they don't even provide 1/3 of what they promise. VPN's don't help either.

since we seem to be having the same issues I must ask is youtube giving you issues when trying to watch videos? like buffering ever 30sec for 10minutes at a time even at 360p?

I was having this issue at first. Go into your router settings and disable QoS, that fixed it for me, as well as gave me an upload speed. When speedtesting before doing this, I was getting .02mb/s upload. It also slightly improved download speeds.

This is weird. I also want to stream

I used to make videos much more frequently, however, stopped due to having to move three times this year, and now not having much privacy at all.

I must ask, did you also use to play RuneScape religiously, switch to WoW, and then become uninterested in MMO's while still begrudgingly trying them out on and off, and sticking to generic FPS games?

well when I was 10 I played RuneScape like my life depended on it lol never really got into WoW lol I play DayZ if you call that an MMO but thats pretty much it mostly FPS games even if I do suck at them lol

luckily though I think we are only in a 1 or 2 year contract so once I can find a job I can pay the cancelation fees for the internet atleast and get us better internet

We're fairly similar. I just graduated, have plenty of money from working while in school, but they won't let me pay the termination fee, meaning I'm stuck without being able to stream or make YouTube videos. Which, I would love to do. It's something I've been told is VERY enjoyable, and I really enjoy it myself, so being handicapped like this is...irritating, to say the least. One of the dogs also broke my Canon T3i recently, and I had planned on using it to make tech review videos (very good chance of getting a job at a retailer currently), so that's out of the picture for a short while, unless I plan on dropping $900 on a new camera setup.

Sounds like ADSL to me. You will never get above something like 1.2Mbps, due to the spec, and that's a theoretical maximum.

It's normal, up speeds are always much slower unless your plan specifically advertized fast up speeds and even then the limit isn't much higher. Sorry, there are no "cheap tricks" to get more bandwidth.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

Dude, I've got a 3.95Mb/s down and 0.85Mb/s up. I can still watch 720p videos with no buffering stops. I'd even have a crack at 1080p but, my resolution is only like 1280x1024 :D

Sorry but upload speeds are usually crap. You can try the normal things like using wired instead of wireless but other than that the only thing left is upgrade your plan.

so I'm getting 13Mbs down and .6Mbs up is there any way I can increase my upload speed? I don't get why it would be so slow but it's been like that since we got internet

There are two main reasons for getting low upload speed.

1.Network connection is bad

2.You have a firewall program that is blocking you

If you have slow upload speed,Try to keep the the following instructions

1.Use a Wired Connection

2.Eliminate Malware

3.Clear Your Temp Files

4.Update DNS Settings

5.Check Your Hardware

6.Update Device Drivers

7.Add a Repeater or Extender

8.Change Your Internet Service Provider

When i had the same problem,i followed the same ways.I am sure,it's very useful to increase your upload speed. Then you can check your new internet upload speed using ScanmySpeed.com

Only way to do that is to throw all your money into the faces of your ISP provider.

The only way to really get proper speeds these days is to be on fiber from a company that isn't evil, get a business plan, or start your own ISP

Best option is too move your connection to an business line. Home users dont need upload as much as business's. Think about, they have servers an shit that need to upload a bucket tonne. Your home computer aint doing that but just downloading torrents. So Upload isnt what your home bundle gives you.
