I'm waiting for all my parts to be built, but my specs will be:

CPU: I7 4930k

MOBO: Asus x79 Deluxe

RAM: G-Skill 32gb (for now)

GPU: EVGA 760 FTW

Case: Fractal Design Define R4

With peripherals and everything else it came out to $3k :/

My budget originally was $2k

I'm the same. My budget for my planned build was set at $1.7K, then I upped it to $2K. But then I figured I'd make it $2.2K just for some added performance. Then realising that I wanted to get better this, that and the other it grew to as high as $3.3K. But after some good thinking I felt like that was kind of ridiculous so I brought it back down to $2.2K. However, after a while I realised, because I'm a video editor, I needed to swap out some things and got some recommendations, my budget then grew to $2.4K, then $2.5K till finally ending up at $2.7K.

So. yeah. You can see that my budget has been on a bit of a roller coaster ride. To put it in basic form it went as follows:

• $1,700

• $2,000

• $2,200

• $3,300

• $2,200

• $2,400

• $2,500

• $2,700

All in AUD of course.

EDIT: My build alone currently works out to be AU$2,070. However, with adding the very popular ASUS PB278Q PLS monitor, that ups the total build to $2,690. So yeah, the monitor is quite expensive at AU$620. But I feel it's worth it. :D

Hey! Ya fixed it. Looks better. Oh and BTW…nice build! :D

Just a quick off topic question, what read + write speeds do you generally get on those 4 500GB HDDs in RAID 0?

Thanks! I get around 380 read 350 write. I really want to get 2 500GB SSDs and put them in RAID 0. Lol

WOW! That's awesome! That's pretty much as good as most SSDs.

Yeah, well you'd be looking at up to 1.0GBps with that kind of configuration. SSDs, even by Samsung, are just getting cheaper and cheaper all the time. I wonder when the hard drive will become redundant (auto-correct corrected that to "red untamed". Whatever!).

I know! I think im going to wait till my HDD RAID fails then I will think about getting SSDs. The lower the price the better!

That's a pretty awesome setup you got there mate! Do you calibrate your displays for colour accuracy with video editing or you're not so worried about that?
