non mechanical keyboard wanted

falxon9

I'm looking for a new gaming keyboard but most of them are load because of the switches on them and i enjoy late night gaming so i require something that doesn't wake the house up or the people in the next room over. id also like the keypad to be disjointed and able to be placed on the right of my mouse. can anyone think of a keyboard that has all this that will not wake people up?

Get a MX Brown keyboard. They aren't that loud. I doubt you'll wake somebody up unless you're typing an essay.

Anyway, the Microsoft Sidewinder is decent.

Pretty much any chiclet keyboard is almost silent, the Logitech K740 is excellent. I use it and I love it, I game heavily and type a lot and it works very well for both.

Browns are loud, as are all mechanical switches even with o-rings.

I'm using blues, bottoming out often and I wake nobody up in the room next to me, playing Starcraft at a decent APM. Browns are a LOT more silent than this. Sounds like a room problem to me. :P There's just a few keyboards out there that are absolutely silent.

I love StarCraft

Cherry MX Reds with o-rings are pretty damn quiet. Matias also has ALPS-based mechanical keyboards that are quieter than Cherry MX switches. Microsoft Sidewinder X4 is probably the best non-mechanical gaming keyboard. It's full-size with macros, though. I would take a look on Ebay for the older X6 model which let you detach the num-pad.

MX Browns with some thick o-Rings. But where's the fun when you bottom them out with passion and all you hear is umpf? It must go TACK TACK TACK! That's the joy of MeKas

For non-mechanical, I'd say the corsair ones are great. Some flat keyboards like the Microsoft Siderwinder X4 are ven more silent.

The detachable keypad is difficult however.

who cares...
