What kind of car should I get?

terrytek

And no, do not recommend me anything other than a Japanese car that is sorta old (90's-00's). This is my personal liking.

Even though I can't drive yet (I'm 14), I already planning ahead on what car I should buy. I am going to learn how to drive with my dad's stick '02 Mazda Protege, but I plan to buy a car for myself. I still like Japanese cars, due to their reliability, fuel economy, and power. I plan to get a 1996 Acura Integra GSR, or a 1997 Honda Civic Si. There are reasons I like these cars. The Honda Civic I like because of it's body. It looks sexy and I like how low both cars ride. However, if I don't have enough money for an Si, that means I may have to settle with a regular Civic, with a single cam engine, not the B16 or B18 engine that I want, and that may mean an engine swap, which means dwindling wallet. The Acura Integra is based of the Civic, but it already comes with a powerful B18 or B20 engine. Also, it comes with leather seats, but I may just replace them with better seats. I plan to keep this car well into my 20's, so upgrades are forseeable in the future. I am torn towards the Integra with it's power, but the Civic is more mass produced and probably has a wider array of mods. Help me, I am really confused. I don't want to have this kind of issue when I really buy the car. I plan to buy the car from Craigslist (yeah, sure, just sin me all you want).

Like I said, I plan to keep this car well into my 20s, so maybe yeah.

I think a Skyline, when they can be legally imported.

About 1.5 to 3K.

I'd like to point out that those are horrible choices for a first car.

(Especially since i've seen too many of them get butchered by first timers)

Good luck finding an unmolested integra. (or one that hasn't been driven by an ape)

Single cam civics are not really worth it. Save up and look for one with either the B18 or B20

Well it ain't even 25 years old (the R34 one), so no.

To the OP:

I'm not really into the Golf, even though those things can handle a few PSI pretty well.

Well, I have good customization tastes, so my first car shouldn't look like a ricer. I actually managed to see somebody turbo a D16, but still, I'm gonna stay away from the single cams. Sucks that the Type R is not legal here in America. Should I get maybe a RSX with a K20 engine?

I had a 2000 Subaru Impreza OBS for about 6 years and put 140k+ hard miles on it and loved every one. Was very reliable right up until the end and I'd probably still be driving it if I had actually maintained it better. Great fun sliding her around corners on back roads even with only having the 2.2L engine and completely stock.

In the us, the lexus is300 had the 2jz whereas the japanese toyota altezza had an beams 3s-ge engine. The nice thing about the is300 and altezza is that the parts are interchangeable, so you can go for a jdm altezza look if you wanted.
