Qnix QX2710 vs AOC q2963pm

scoutme

Hi all,

I can't find enough info to compare those displays. Both resolutions fit my needs, but I'd like to understand:

- which one is the best in terms of ghosting and latency (also considering OC for both - that is 75hz for the AOC and 96+ hz for the Qnix PLS)

- which one is the best in terms of color reproduction (also keeping in mind contrast and viewing angle)

The Qnix has the better color reproduction.

Explain. The Qnix is a PLS panel and the AOC is an AH-IPS panel.

Explain. The Qnix is a PLS panel and the AOC is an AF-S panel.

The only way i can explain it, is that the Qnix PLS panel is true color, like when watching a vid the peoples skill color and the backgrounds are spot on with real life.  The next step up from that would be to get true 10 bit monitor.

Is this statement from a personal comparison between the two monitors or conjecture? PLS and IPS panels are very similar technologies with very similar results.

It's a mixer of both. I own a lot of monitors, including some older AOC monitors and I own 3 of the 27 inch Quix monitors, plus the 27 inch Qnix monitor my wife has. out of all the monitors i own, i notice that the older AOC monitors, do not have that great of picture qulity, now, not sure how their newer monitors are, including the AOC q2963pm. but it is comparing a AOC panel to a Samsung panel either way you look at it.

Actually that's no the case, since if I'm not wrong the Aoc has LG panel, so we are comparing a samsung panel to an lg one. Correct?

Samsung makes all PLS panels (they developed PLS). LG makes the vast majority of IPS panels. So most IPS monitors from whatever manufacturer likely uses a LG panel. Those "older" AOC monitors that you have probably use TN panels. So, obviously the newer PLS panels are going to look better.

Okay, now that we have that cleared up...

As I mentioned before, PLS and IPS panels are so similar that you are not going to notice any practical difference between the two. The AOC monitor has an AH-IPS panel, the newest type of IPS panels made by LG.

It boils down to if you want 21:9 or 16:9.

Yeeaah, I kind of already knew that :) Never started a debate with you. Just said my opinion and you tried to correct my persoanl opinion.

Never did i want a pissing contest on who knew more about PLS and IPS panels.

Yes, I have a sense of humor :D

The way you put it, it's like puting a TN panel form one company against another TN panel from another and claiming both look alike, which is not true, Just because a manufacture uses a IPS panel, does not nesasaraly mean that it's the same as another IPS/PLS panel from another manufacture and vice versa. The only true way to get the correct answer, would be to buy both monitors, put them both side by side and RMA the one you don't like. Or the OP can listen to debating people on the Internet? Or the best option would be to look at revews of both monitors and decide which option is right for them.

No, you made a statement that you asserted as fact. I am merely trying to get the basis of your statement which turned out to be conjecture.

I get were you are coming from, I really do. Just done ruining the OP's thread with our debating back and forward. I gave links to were they can decide on their own. They can either take our advice, or just read the reviws that are linked and compare.

Thank you all, for info and clarification.

Back on comparison: I can't find a proper display lag comparison. To me 21x9 would be better, but 1080 vertical resolution is too low. So it's a draw when talking about resolution/format.

latency and ghosting/halo comparison could be the key to decide, but I cannot find comparable data (every reviewer uses different tools and parameters, and a lot of them just give a subjective opinion - à la "not that bad with battlefield").

Anyone having direct experience with both (or very similar) models?

p.s.: sidenote: price is an element too, since those 21x9 panels are quite expensive, considering the resolution... I have to decide whether they deserve that price or not :)

actually, amazon is selling the aoc 21x9 for 270€, so price is not an element to consider in comparison.

Which one does boost better colors? Which one better response time (and less ghosting)?

Let's put it in other terms:

NOT considering resolution and form factor differences, which of these two monitors has better response and less blur?
