WOW..... :)- what do you think?

Hello guys! I have one extreme build and a full mac pro, but which do you prefer and why?

What i will be doing on them?

Programming / game developing

adobe prepmier pro

music production

adobe after effects cc

cad- not much

film production - starting youtube channel

plane design

simulations

3ds max / maya

unreal engine

Final cut pro

some photoshop

also i will be wotking on cad to print 3d models

also i want it to be a llitle compact so i move it to my friends house to work together.

Well this is what i will be doing! I mad tis build about the same price as the full mac pro so they can compete with each other!

I will ALSO be doing gaming- but not too much maybe after work or when i am bored. I already have a display. I want to play at medium to high setting if possible

custom pc:  http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/h9sJmG ( no peripherals)

mac pro    :  http://store.apple.com/us/buy-mac/mac-pro?product=MD878LL/A&step=config - dont know if you can see the specs:----> just put them to full ( no peripherals) ;)

Dont bother with the money is just a build just to see what you guys prefer B)

ps: for the case of the custom build i might get the level 10 limited edition or wait for the titanium

Custom would be better IMO, just the ability to change out things when you want to and be able to upgrade on the fly, is more then worth it.

i know i choice the titan z to make the build the same price as the mac pro.

I would like to see your build! My budget is 8000$ as you can see- and i want it to be overkill - ( i tried to make my custom build as overkill as possible ) :D

It might be compact, but the compact-ness pretty much kills any future upgrades. With a custom, If you need a new component it is rather simple to upgrade, a Mac Pro is not.

The custom build could be cut down a bit and keep the same performance. Dominator Platinums aren't worth the extra money really, you'd be better off with Vengeance Pros or something. Also, if you wanted it to be portable, why go with a full tower? Also, if you were going with a Titan Z, it'd be better to go with EVGA's ACX version.

SOOBER graphics overkill, not too muchstorage though. Btw, I find 4960x useless for the extra dough, I think the 4930k is fine.

what would you change?

The main compnent that sticks out is the 4960X, yes it is the top of the line CPU, but if you want to know the truth, its not even 3% faster then the 4930K. It would just be a waste of money to get the 4960X over the 4930k.

The answer is quite obvious when asking here on the forum.

For work I would buy the Mac Pro? Why? Because it is freaking fast and OS X works absolutely flawlessly (which cannot be said about ANY hackintosh)

For private stuff and gaming I'd probably choose a custom built hackintosh.

Spending a little extra time to make a Hackintosh-Compatible Gaming PC might be the best option for you If you wan't the best of both worlds - I also find that it is easier to do actual work with No games in the way.

If you do that though, please for the love of god use two Hard Drives, using one caused me so much pain and many re-installs right at the beginning

i want great acceleration on cuda or even opengl on the mac pro. The problem is that i dont want to have a ton of gpu's just one much 2 if possible.

More gpu's means more heat and since i cant put a watercooling loop because i will be moving my build
