L2 vs. L3 real world usage and gaming

Guest

How do the presence of L2 and L3 cache affect regular usage and [CPU-heavy] gaming like BF4?

For example, i3-41xx have 512KB L2, 3MB L3, i3-43xx have 512KB L2, 4MB L3 and FM2+ chips don't have L3 at all

Probably not much, the cache of a CPU is just where it stores the most important information to work with at the current time, the rest is stored in RAM.

L2 and L3 cache is best tested with CPU intensive tasks such as compiling and encoding. Although you are much more likely to see an improvement in speed(time taken) with faster and larger quantity of RAM. Since no new data is being generated by the CPU while playing games... even the most demanding games will not be affected by larger cache sizes.
