Bitfenix Prodigy - Fallout 3 Case Mod - Vault Boy

I also didn't measure that haha. Hopefully I went enough over my measurements for the rad to fit. Will test it out tomorrow. With the power and reset button did you just cut the PCB? so that just the power and reset bit is left

Yeah, I just cut off the bit I needed, luckily it's separate from the front audio and USB traces on the pcb.

Yup I saw the traces but I just wasn't sure you can just cut it. Thanks for that :D

@ciobanulx Yeah hopefully we'll see or hear something by the time we die of old age. I doubt it.

I'm thinking the next one will be NYC, which could be fun. Although going back to california would be kinda cool (especially for those of us who haven't played anything before 3)

Also, dont forget you need a radiation symbol somewhere :D (or better yet, have them everywhere)

Hopefully we hear something about it by the end of the year with a release in 2016. I doubt we will see a fallout game before that. And I hope to God they don't do another MMO like ESO. I bought ESO on launch day, played the included month and that was it. I still have it installed but I'm probably not gonna play it. Maybe if they drop the subscription fee.

And yea I have 3 radiation grills, 2 for the front rad and I was thinking to put the third one on the back as there won't be anything there. And then I'm gonna make a bunch of fallout themed vinyl stickers or something, though I don't really want it to be full of stickers everywhere. I will see how it looks when all the mods are complete. Hopefully by end of next week, my last exam is tomorrow morning and then I can get back to working on the case :D

I'm glad people like the theme :D

I like the mesh on the front pannel the way you cut it then bent it made it kinda look like carbon fiber

Thanks, I'm glad you like it though I didn't really like how that front panel turned out, that's why I made the whole front panel out of 10mm acrylic :D

So exams are finally over and I've made quite a bit of progress since Thursday, so here it is:

Decided to touch up on the top panel cut a bit more and test fitted the Koolance shroud with the rad and fans. It fits and looks pretty good :D

Also made a cut in the floor for the bottom of the rad to fit through

post-20077-0-38210500-1404037670_thumb.j

Cut and fitted the acrylic in the floor, also drilled the holes for the pumps. The dual pump top still hasn't arrived unfortunately :(

I purchased the front panel acrylic, 10mm thick. Unfortunately they only had it in clear so I may get a blue transparent vinyl for it.

post-20077-0-61126300-1404038075_thumb.j

After cutting and a few hours of filing and sanding I'm really happy with how it turned out :D

The side panel windows. It's gonna look much better once I paint or get some vinyl on the edges so that the sides of the case won't be seen.

All the acrylic bit that I'm gonna be using

And finally the whole case take apart. Ready for some sanding and painting tomorrow. Hopefully it turns out good :)

post-20077-0-24237300-1404038697_thumb.j

Sorry for the garage pics but I don't really have a place to take these shots while I work on the case. I will take some glamor shots once the case is painted and all the mods are done.

All that is left now to do is to fit the PSU side covers and then paint the case. Will be starting on that tomorrow, fingers crossed that the paint will turn out good as I've never painted a case before, actually I haven't spray painted anything before hahaha

Hope you like the progress so far :)

Freakin' hammer down, i'll have to pull my finger out or you'll be finished before me

Dual pumps...wow, you got room for that? I'm wondering where the hell all the room has gone in mine all of a sudden now that theres cables and shit taking up room.

Looks great anyway, if it turns out like your last build, it'll blow mine away.

I really liked what you did with the front panel with the bent mesh. Should find a way to make that a border around the acrylic.

keep it up!

Hahaha now way I'll be finished before you. I'm just working on the mods man. I have no idea what hardware I want in it at the moment or money to buy them haha. I plan to be fully finished by the end of the year hopefully and maybe by that time Broadwell will be released along with new graphics cards from nvidia and amd :D.

The next thing I will be getting when the case is complete will be the PSU so that I can do some sleeving and custom cables :D

And yea dual DDC is not that big if you get a dual pump top for them and have the res on top of that.

Thanks a lot for the kind words mate, I really appreciate it :). Your build is looking sweet too, I'm sure when it's finished it will turn out awesome. I also got some pointers from your build log, the power/reset switch and those case feet, thanks :P:D

Unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to use that anymore. As the acrylic is pretty much cut to size and also another reason I didn't go with the bent mesh panel anymore is because I didn't leave enough room in the middle when I cut the panel to be able to mount the acrylic to. Hope you get what I mean lol, if you look back at the pictures there is barely enough of the metal panel left to mount the acrylic to.

Thats a nice shade of blue. @ciobanulx

Thats a shame about that mesh, it looked really good, gave it that nice industrial look, like it was a heat shield or something.

I almost forgot, what kind of tubing are you going to use? Just got done running the flex hose on my larkooler system, Immediately ordering rigid because flex hose is a nightmare lol.

So the paint is now nice and dry. I'm gonna give it a clear coat tomorrow and them probably leave it till the end of the weekend before assembling it.

Also I took the plunge and got one of those cheap R9 290s of eBay. I was scared they where all gonna sell haha. I kept seeing them go from my watchlist one after another. So now I have a modded prodigy, some watercooling bits and an R9 290 lol. It's the first AMD card I have ever owned. I have to see if it can match my 670 SLI. Also I'm really thinking of getting the MSI Z97I Gaming given that EK is launching a full cover waterblock for it like they did with the Maximus VI Impact and will also get the Pentium Anniversary G3258.

What has started as just a mod project is turning into a build sooner than I thought, I will probably start a new thread with this in the build log section once all the mods and the case is done. Stay tuned for that sometime next week :)
