I wanted to get the MAXIMUM performance possible, with an Intel Core i5 4670K and an R9 290. This rig will demolish every game.

CPU:  Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($189.99 @ Micro Center)

CPU Cooler:  Thermaltake CLP0605 79.3 CFM CPU Cooler  ($29.99 @ Micro Center)

Motherboard:  MSI Z87-G43 Gaming ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($111.98 @ SuperBiiz)

Storage:  Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive  ($54.43 @ OutletPC)

Video Card:  MSI Radeon R9 290 4GB TWIN FROZR Video Card  ($433.98 @ Newegg)

Power Supply:  Thermaltake SMART 650W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply  ($49.99 @ Micro Center)

Total: $990.05

(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

(Generated by PCPartPicker 2014-05-10 11:02 EDT-0400)

Justification

CPU: The Core i5 4670k will CRUSH all games, and it is power efficient as well, making it the only logical choice.

Cooler: This Thermaltake Nic F3 is actually pretty good, and according to one of Asus's videos, got an FX 6300 up to well over 4GHz, and considering how much more heat that chip puts out, the Nic F3 can take the 4670k pretty far. Furthermore, its red and black fan complements the color scheme very well.

MB: I originally had a B85 motherboard in here, but now, I have upgraded it to an awesome Z87 board that matches the red and black color scheme and will take the 4670K as far as it can possibly go in terms of overclocking.

HDD: You may wonder why I did not add an SSD. It is pretty simple; the G.Skill Phoenix is too expensive and performs poorly compared to almost everything, considering how old the Sandforce 2281 controller is. Thus, this seagate Barracuda 1TB HDD will provide plenty of storage and performance at a reasonable price.

RAM: A high end gaming rig is nothing without some high speed memory. This G.Skill Ripjaws X kit is clocked at 2133MHz, which will lead to a palpable performance boost in certain games. Furthermore, the red heatsinks accent the motherboard well.

GPU: This same MSI R9 290 led me to victory last week, and it will do it again this week. Its performance is comparable to a GTX 780, and with its TwinFrozr IV cooler, you can take this GPU to pretty high clock speeds without a lot of noise. A red and black cooler matches the rest of the build.

PSU: The main advantage of this PSU is its flat black cables, which will look wonderful and allow for cable management in this case.

Case: Now some of you may roll your eyes at this case, but it is pretty decent for its price range, and with the flat cables from the Thermaltake Smart PSU, you can do decent cable management in this case. Furthermore, it looks ballin'.

I advise you to look at the pictures. They may convince you, as an enthusiast, to vote for this build, as it looks awesome and performs better than every single build below in gaming, and that's what matters in the end.

Here is mine, wen't a little bit crazy, but actually quite like it...
Probably would go raid 0 with the SSDs, but that's just me.

Stupid case has no option to go SLI, so yeah.. wen't with a 760 since it's pretty good for 1080p.

I feel bad, but you are technically over budget. Maybe if you wait something will go on sale and you can edit your post.

-4670K, the best bang for the buck for Gaming

-Water Cooler Extreme 3.0 with dual for extra heat Spreading and better cooling, capability to Overclock that 4670K up to 4.4Ghz, and since an NH-D15 is out of league at this Price, water cooling is best

-Since it's a Gaming Rig, MSI Gaming edition, i think you're getting the picture

-2x4Gb Sticks, 8GB More than enough for Gaming, and can go to 16Gb for Ubber bandwidth

-1TB more than enough space for any Games Collector, enough free space for the Games to run Faster and an SSD at this price wont be worth it

-GTX 770 with a TF4, More than Powerful for 1080p, can handle most Games at 1440p, Great cooling Solution for Extra OCing headroom, and looks stunning

-Case is Good looking, provides Well air flow with the two Fans Added in the Front

-550W 80+Bronze wile the estimated wattage is at 440W so...

  let the best Build win

If you're asking if you should have duplicate parts, then the answer is no (i don't think these companies actually compete). You should try to have as many parts as possible from those companies, but there are some things (like CPUs) that none of them make. Also, don't spend tons of extra money on an inferior product just because of the branding. If it's a matter of $10-$20 and the parts are comparable in quality, then definitely go for the MSI/Thermaltake/GSkill branded part.

Does he get some special entry? I mean he found a case that has both thermaltake and MSI in it... Well MS-I in the name of a thermaltake case.

The CPU while not as good as the 4670k, but it dont fall behind too far giving that it's 100$ cheaper, the cooler is good while still keep it reasonably quiet.
Mobo from MSI, the G45 look absolutely beautiful and giving all you ever needed
Memory: A pair of DDR3-2133 8GB Red/Black theme Memory, need I say more?
Storage: The Seagate Barracuda is actually a very good HDD for a way cheaper price compare to WD Black/Blue. I personally use it too so... :D
Video Card: The sweet MSI GTX 780 Twin Frozr, look absolutely beast + perform really well too.
Case: With all that great Red/Black theme going on inside, it's a same if I have to go with a case without panel. But luckily the Thermaltake Commander MS-I ID ATX Mid Tower Case have just that.
PSU: 650W 80+ Bronze, sign me in :3

Ok, will consider. I thought we did one recently, but apparently more time passed than I thought. In the future, please put suggestions in the main thread (I almost missed this when scrolling through).
