Build-Off Week 42: Stable and Silent

Welcome to Week 42 of the LTT Build-Off! The rules and guidelines can be found here.
Thank you @f22luke for suggesting the challenge.

This week the challenge is to make a very solid, silent, and stable machine for gaming and general productivity/multitasking. You probably won't be overclocking, as that increases heat and noise while reducing component longevity.

Budget: $1,555.55
Speakers/Headphones: No
Mouse: No
Keyboard: No
Monitor: Yes
Submissions: May 2nd through 5th
Voting: May 6th through 8th

(The text should be all set for the dark theme--I remembered this time :))

In the past, I have just put @"winner'sName" in the post announcing the next challenge (look here for an example). Is that considered "tagging?"

You can also always check the contest itself or the "Winners and Past Contests" section of the main thread.

I can PM in the future, but it seemed unnecessary since there are no prizes.

Yes, that is indeed tagging, it works if I am online at the time but if I leave the forum to do something like go to school or head out with family I come back and I am molested with a shitstorm of notifications.

Why did i choose a xeon? It has hyperthreading for 50 bucks less than a i7 and because it's higher binned it will last longer than an ''i'' SKU ( In theory that is), and because it is a ''server'' CPU it's awesome for 24/7 use.

CPU Cooler: The Noctua NH-U12S is silent and performs more that adequate for the given cpu.  Going with a larger heatsink will do nothing for performance and noise wile adding extra weight/strain to the motherboard.

Motherboard:  Since we are not overclocking you might think that Z87 is a waist but it's hard to find a cheaper motherboard with better I/O and it certainly would not be this high of quality.  The TUF series sets the bar when it comes to stabilitty and reliability.

Memory: The selected sticks appearer on the manufacturers QVL other benefits include a lifetime warranty and low profile heat sinks.

Storage:  The neutron series share DNA with enterprise grade hardware which explains why Corsair backs it up with a 5 year warranty.  As for the WD black drive they are the cream of the crop when it comes to consumer grade storage.

Graphics: Evga are well know for their customer support and since overclocking isn't an option getting a card factory overclocked is where it's at.  The ACX cooler is not the quietest on the market but it will be inside and R4 so it shouldn't be audible unless it's being stressed to the max.  The graphics card only comes with a three year warranty which seems short compared to the rest of the components but with the way cards are changing so rapidly 3 years is a good time to upgrade.

Case: The Define R4 is a solid case that can cool these components adequately and still keep the decibels down.

Powersupply:  The Corsair HX series is world renowned for it's quality.  Corsair feels soo strongly about this series that they are willing to back it up with a 7 year warranty.  Power supplies don't need to be changed that often so it's worth getting one that will last.

CPU: If you aren't going to overclock the Xeon line offers a compelling value.
CPU Cooler: One of the best big air coolers on the market, plenty of heat dissipation to minimize fan RPM
MOBO: Everything you need in a nice, high quality package. H87 because there is no overclocking on the Xeon, but allows more raid options if the end user wanted to add another WD Green in raid 1 for a bit of redundancy.
Memory: New memory by Kingson. I think it looks good and a 2x4 8Gb kit is enough for most gaming and general users. Did I mention it looks good?
Storage (SSD): 250Gb Samsung 840 Evo, is a great value in the market right now. I much prefer a 250gb version as a boot drive/program drive than a 120, I find that a 120 gets a bit crowded quickly.
Storage (HDD): I went with a WD Green 1tb, because I trust WD and the green drives are 5400RPM, Making them a bit quieter than most 7200RPM competitors. Its a bit slower than a 7200RPM drive but with a 250gb SSD you should be able to get all your normal use programs on that instead.
GPU: I went with an EVGA GTX 780. Whats more to say? Its powerful enough for most games maxed out on a 1080 monitor, doesn't break the bank, and is going to be reasonably quiet. Plus the colors match the system build. Plus its EVGA.
Case: I went with the Define R4 because it looks great, is easy to build in, not wildly expensive and quiet. I personally really like the titanium color on this one too.
PSU: I chose an EVGA SuperNova 80+ Gold rated 650w unit, because its very high quality, reasonably quiet, and fully modular making it easy to build with. Plus its EVGA.
Monitor: I went with a P2314H monitor. Its 1920x1080 so it will work very well in conjunction with the 780. Plus its IPS so it has very nice colors and better viewing angles if people are watching you game, or you are watching movies on it while doing other things. One feature I personally always look for in a monitor is a nice high adjustable stand, this monitor has a fantastic stand with more adjustments than you need, height, pivot, swivel and tilt.

Cpu: no overclocking/ xeon will be great. for gaming/multitasking
Cooler: beefy air tower with great performance, silent and looks great. With no overclocks, you can run the fans at extremely low rpms!
Mobo: no need for z87 without overclocking.
Memory: solid 16gb kit with great looks again.
Storage: 120 evo and 1tb hdd for the speedy + large hdd storage combo.
Gpu: 280x would handle everything pretty well at 1080p
Power supply: 650w for the below 40% 0 rpm fan mode for silence.
Case: Sleek H440 that is a really silent optimized case
Fans: 4x nb eloops for extra silence to go along with the H440
