Stuck on first pc parts

ClevAiken

Ok so I am deciding to build my first pc and I honestly don't know a whole lot about what to pick my parts are:

Case: Corsair Obsidian 450d $165

CPU: Intel Core i5 4670K $269

Cooling: Corsair Hydro Series H100i CPU Cooler $149

Motherboard: MSI Z87-G45 Gaming Motherboard $199

GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 780 Gaming Edition 3GB $679

Memory: ADATA XPG V1 AX3U2133W8G10-DR 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 $209

SSD: Samsung 840 EVO Series 250GB SSD $179

HDD: Western Digital WD Green 3TB WD30EZRX $135

Fans: x2 Corsair Air Series AF140 Quiet Edition Red LED Fan $38

x4 Corsair Air Series AF120 Quiet Edition Red LED Fan $76

PSU: Corsair CX-600 Modular 80+ Bronze Power Supply $105

Total: $2392 AUD (including the os and antivirus software plus an external optical drive)

So I was just wondering if there are any parts that need replacing like if the power supply needs to be more or less powerful or if any parts are not compatible or if there are any things I can replace to decrease the price or increase performance.

Help is much appreciated

Cut back on the RAM speed

You don't need 2133mhz, 1600mhz will be good.

You could get the RM650 PSU

The rest are ok

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

The WD Green isnt a very good HDD, especially for gaming. You might want a Black or change to Seagate Barracuda.

The PSU is enough, but you might want to look around to see if you can get a 80+ gold. If not then it's ok.(I'm using a 80+ bronze too) And I'm feeling like you adding a little too much fans.

With all that said, With your budget I think you can get a 780Ti? I cant find the 450D on PCPP Aus so I choose 500R instead, the price should be about the same just to see how much it cost even if you choose 450D (I like 450D more too)

2133Mhz RAM is like as cheap as the 1600Mhz variant, and 600watt bronze is enough for a 4670K with a GTX 780 with several fans.

650watts won't be enough for 4670K and SLI GTX 780 anyway so I think he's fine like this.

What is the purpose of the build -- Gaming? Work?  Are you trying to achieve extremely high overclocks?

@ClevAiken Do you really need 6 led fans? Seems excessive to me.

Might I suggest an led strip instead and swap the fans for noctuas NF F12s or Noiseblocker eloops.

an 80+ gold psu is also something you can look into if you'd like. at that budget you have so many options.

The two 140 fans are for the front

Two of the 120's are for back and bottom and i was thinking the other two to put on the cooling

Wow that might be good but usually Intel system do not gain a lot from using high speed RAM. The lower CAS latency is an important factor

Like I said, you can opt for an rgb led strip instead of getting so many led fans.

Unless the led fan look is the one you are going for.

EDIT: you should get pressure optimised ones for your cooler.

In that case if you don't to OC a lot the watercooling is a bit overkill. A silent air cooler from be quiet dark power. Or noctual

Ok so I am deciding to build my first pc and I honestly don't know a whole lot about what to pick my parts are:

Case: Corsair Obsidian 450d $165 - What about the Fractial desgin R4?

CPU: Intel Core i5 4670K $269

Cooling: Corsair Hydro Series H100i CPU Cooler $149 - Get h105 , the h100i is a great cooler but is outdated compared to the h105 or coolermaster or the h220 by swifttech for better cooling.

Motherboard: MSI Z87-G45 Gaming Motherboard $199 Try to get an Asus MB they are much better when i comes to realibilty and features also bang for your buck

GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 780 Gaming Edition 3GB $679  - maybe look into the Gigabyte Version or asus , easyer to overclock and also better coolers

Memory: ADATA XPG V1 AX3U2133W8G10-DR 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 $209  - Cut the ram back to 1866 or 1600. 2133 is overkill tbh 1866 does people just great as it costs a litte more and you get a nice performance increase.

SSD: Samsung 840 EVO Series 250GB SSD $179 - Good Man :)

HDD: Western Digital WD Green 3TB WD30EZRX $135 - Maybe look into the black Drive possibly as it gives better load times, green drive is designed for efficiency and power saving feautres.

Fans: x2 Corsair Air Series AF140 Quiet Edition Red LED Fan $38 - These fan's are fine but if u can spare a little more go with noctua :)

x4 Corsair Air Series AF120 Quiet Edition Red LED Fan $76

PSU: Corsair CX-600 Modular 80+ Bronze Power Supply $105

Total: $2392 AUD (including the os and antivirus software plus an external optical drive)

So I was just wondering if there are any parts that need replacing like if the power supply needs to be more or less powerful or if any parts are not compatible or if there are any things I can replace to decrease the price or increase performance.

Yeah just gaming

For gaming, you can achieve some very good results without spending more than you need to.  If you want to upgrade some non-performance impacting parts, that is up to you.  I am going to create the best price to performance build for you that will last you for many years, while remaining upgrade-ready.

PCPartPicker part list: http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/3y8yS

Price breakdown by merchant: http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/3y8yS/by_merchant/

Benchmarks: http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/3y8yS/benchmarks/

CPU: Intel Core i5-4670K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($269.00 @ PCCaseGear) <-- For gaming, an i5 is all you need.

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler  ($39.00 @ Mwave Australia) <-- Very good, high quality and amazing performance CPU cooler that is very inexpensive and quiet.

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z87X-HD3 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($169.00 @ PCCaseGear )<--Motherboard doesn't impact performance.  Go with the least expensive Z87 mobo that is either SLI capable or not SLI capable depending on your needs.

Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory  ($96.99 @ Mwave Australia) <-- For gaming 8GB of 1600mhz, 9-9-9-24, 1.5v RAM is all you need.  Find the least expensive RAM with the color that you like, brand doesn't matter.

Storage: Crucial M500 120GB 2.5" Solid State Disk  ($89.00 @ Mwave Australia) <-- You will want an SSD, at least 120GB for your OS and managing your C drive.  There are more expensive SSDs out there, but this is a value build.

Storage: Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive  ($99.00 @ PCCaseGear) <-- Could go with 1 or 2 TB depending on your needs.

Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 780 3GB DirectCU II Video Card  ($639.00 @ CPL Online) <-- Best value and best performing GPU.  The 780Ti is much more expensive for a small (10-15%) performance increase.  Could just OC your GPU to get better results.  The R9 290 is also a good choice that is less expensive and will provide similar results.  I think it is also running a promotion for 3 free games with purchase, I am not sure if this is an international deal though.

Case: Corsair 200R ATX Mid Tower Case  ($85.00 @ PCCaseGear) <-- Case is a very personal choice, and you have the budget to go either way.  I chose a very popular, middle of the road case.  There is more expensive, and there is less expensive.  As case doesn't have a direct impact on performance, and you stated that you want the most performance for the least amount of money, this is a good option.  You can get away with even less expensive cases too.

Power Supply: Corsair CX 600W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply  ($105.00 @ Mwave Australia) <-- CX600M, very popular and functional PSU.  I have one myself powering my i5 + 780.  Very quiet, performs well, semi-modular and inexpensive.

Operating System: Microsoft Windows 8.1 (OEM) (64-bit)  ($115.00 @ CPL Online)

Total: $1705.99

(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

(Generated by PCPartPicker 2014-04-25 18:11 EST+1000)

For case fans, I recommend the Cougar Vortex PWMs, they are extremely well built, very high quality, blow tons of air, and best of all, extremely quiet.

I saw that you dislike the look of air coolers, so if you want, you can go with a water cooler, they are typically more noisey, but I agree, they look very cool.  You have the budget to go any direction with this build, I am meerly proposing the best value: price to performance build that you can get with your money.  After a certain point, you start to experience diminishing returns on your investment.  This build is right at the apex of in-game performance to cost.

?? what is this mess :L please fix it thanks :)

i know many people from canada and usa that have had so many problems with MSI thats why they switched to Asus cause they find there bios easier and motherboards better , but i guess it is just preference
