Synopsis

By its eleventh expansion pack, the massively multiplayer online role-playing game Elder Tale has become a global success, having a following of millions of players. However, during the release of its twelfth expansion pack: Novasphere Pioneers, thirty thousand Japanese gamers who are all logged on at the time of the update, suddenly find themselves transported inside the game world and donning their in-game avatars. In the midst of the event, a socially awkward gamer called Shiroe along with his friends Naotsugu and Akatsuki decide to team up so that they may face this world which has now become their reality along with the challenges which lie ahead.

 

My Opinion

I was a huge fan of sword art online (mostly the first season) and I've always been an avid gamer, so this is a subject that I'm a bit more critical on then most. From others opinions and the overall popularity of the anime it seems very good. I watched the first two episodes and liked it, but wasn't completely drawn in. I will continue to watch it to see how I like it.

 

To kick off the discussion, what do YOU think about the world of virtual reality gaming in it's entirety? If presented with the situation to live in a game for eternity or beat it to escape how would you handle it?

I like VR Games and Anime based on them, my fist one was Dot.Hack and i still like it a lot.

Now as for Log Horizon, i found it interesting but it feelt like they started the whole show in the middle of the whole series. The main characters seem to have had an interesting past and it would be fun to watch that but by the looks of things that wont be happening unless they make a Prequal, Flashbacks could work but honestly considering how few episodes there are i doubt they will be that good.*
Just finished EP 2 and now i gtg to work but ill finish up them all tomorrow. (then i need to dismantle all my PC´s and clean them out =_= )

Maybe by Saturday ill give my full report.

like @CatCloud  I like VR games and anime based on them. Again, like @CatCloud said, it feels like the characters have an interesting backstory that it is hinted at various points in certain episodes. I'm at episode 16 at the moment, i feel the pacing is good and that it is really funny but when it tries to go serious it doesn't quite pull it off. I also like the story.

Probably because you feel like whats at stake isn't very heavy. There really is not major penalty for death and whatnot.

Just try to watch a few episodes within the week, personally I won't be diving into this one until Sunday because of work but Imma try to get a taste for it so that I can contribute to the discussion.

My opinion of the opening was meh at first but now its bearable and somewhat enjoyable to listen to. Comparisons to SAO huh? This'll be interesting for you to gauge.

First impressions, this seems enjoyable and they got something going with the assassin, she is adorable. I don't feel like it was a strong first episode but it had good parts, I felt like it jumped around without transition too much, but I feel that I'm going to enjoy the hell out of this this weekend. Edit: One thing I really like about this and SOA is that being about RPG's it would be easy for them to get away with skimpy ineffective armour for females and every girl has massive boobs but they don't do it, you know what I'm talking about, a series like battle girls where it's just made as an excuse to draw big boobed naked women.

Already finished all the episodes, just rewatching some of the fight scenes and key plot points. Good stuff. I'll have a more thorough post about the series later on in the week.

Alright i´m done with Season 1

So i lets se...
Spoilers ahead...

Story: As i said before it was interesting and it kept it that way till the end, although there were some moments i just wanted to skip, like EP 22...not my thing or some of the flashbacks that kept being reused.. With that said there were plenty of moments that made me smile or feel excited.
The ending was abit of a cliffhanger but i´m not surprised by it considering how small this show is i´v seen this type of cliffhangers plenty of time so i´v gotten used to it.
As i said before a Prequal feels like i is needed due to some characters backstory feels very interesting and could defenetly be a worthy watch.

Characters: The MC was pretty interesting, not sure about unique but he had his charms, great Design and it´s nice to see a smart-ass with some strength behind him and not just another Super Saiyan, The ninja however...hmm idunno...it was too easy to understand her, i guess she was...plain? her design was Classic in a nice way. 
As for the Rest of the characters ill just say some were preeeetty plain and other were surprisingly different to my expectations, like Crusty i though he was gonna charm the Princess and screw things up and became the a selfish villain a few times but in the end he was pretty neat, one of my favorits, (to lazy to go trough all the characters but let´s just say Crusty, Shiroe and Nyanta is in my top 3)

Music: Well......The intro was FAR from fitting BUT I LIKE IT! and it was sadly the only one that caught my attention....sorry   the other weren't the memorable.

Voice: The voice acting was good and it i though it fit each characters nicely, not much more to say aside from that.

Visuals and Design: (was watching in 720) Well this one was abit of a mix, my early conclusion was "average" and i didn't find it to stand out that much, but as the story went on it went up and down so in the end i ended up with giving it a "above average" rating.
Some of the things in the world was nice to look at and sometimes it just looked washed out. Character designs were good on some characters and certain cloths while some others didn´t have the same level of "effort" put into it.

My personal opinion: No regrets, although it was the same old "Stuck in a VR Game World" concept it was a fine Anime and i´d recommend it.
Log Horizon gave me some vibs from older (Non VR related) shows (that i oddly enough can´t remember there names in my head right now) i´v seen in the past, due to this i could predict some things, then there were some moments that didn't go the way i though they would (Like the part with Crusty not being an ass)

And now im tired and i shall sleep, maybe ill Edit this post if some rest refreshes my mind, otherwise this concludes my report of Log Horizon, abit simple and bland but that's how i roll
