A Work in Prodigy

TymmVonD

A work in progress definitely. I had a great 8350/780 rig, but made some trades and now I'm here... for now.

Corsair Fan Housing: BitFenix Prodigy $23 from Bargain Hunt

Mobo: Gigabyte F2A88XN-WIFI                                                                                   Now:MSI Z87I Gaming AC

APU: A8-6600K cooled with Corsair H55                                                                     Now:i7 4770K cooled with Corsair H105

RAM: Vengeance 1866MHz 2x4GB                                                                             Now:Vengeance 2133MHz 2x8Gb

PSU: Corsair HX1050 (yep, 200w+/- rig with a 1000w+ PSU)                                      Same

Storage: Seagate Barracuda 500GB and Kingston HyperX 3K 128GB SSD               Ditched the HDD and got an 840 EVO 500Gb

NZXT LED lighting                                                                                                       Now: Bitfenix Alchemy white LED lighting

I have ordered the windowed panel. Also, a dedicated GPU and A10-7850K is in my near future.

UPDATE: This has been my son's build for several months now and as of 9/17/14, I have "upgraded" his case and memory. Keep scrolling to continue the prodigy build.

I had to use MB standoffs in the case to attach the plate. The PSU barely fit, but it's in there. I would trade straight up for a 750. According to PCpartpicker, I'm at 204 watts.

After cleaning up the wiring a bit and installing my Phobya fan splitter(reason for one top fan not spinning in earlier pic). I also slid rad over to next slot.

Just ordered Vapor-X R9 290, MSI Z87I Gaming AC, I7 4770K, 16 GB Vengeance Pro 2133MHz and 500GB 840 EVO; mostly with LTT Amazon Affiliate link.

OneDrive is hit or miss when embedding photos. So, I'm stuck with using the LTT Gallery feature for now. Small thumbnails are in my future.

FAIL! This Prodigy couldn't take it. The graphics card added enough weight along with the force needed to plug the 8 pin on the mobo to break one side of the legs.

So, it's being held up now with the HX1050's hard packaging material until Bitfenix sends me new legs/handles or I order another case.

WIN 20140502 073749

The window had to go. I have 9 mm of clearance between the GPU and the mesh, less with the window.

Blue team. The dark force is strong. H105 is coming today!

60cm Bitfenix Alchemy LED kit. I tried the NZXT, very dim and it requires a pci bracket(out the box). I recommend this kit 100%.

  • 4 months later...

I just want to say thank you, I have ordered almost the exact same rig, and was wandering if the r9 290 vapor x will fit well in the prodigy.

i5 4690k
Vengeance Pro 2400Mhz
Corsair H105 (exhaust on top)
R9 290 Vaport X
Kingston 250gb V300
WD Caviar black 1Tb
140mm back exhaust
2x 120 Front intakes
MSI z97i Gaming AC

Just a question, isn't the GPU suffocating without any fresh air intake from the side panel?

EDIT: Nevermind Just saw you said you dont use the side panel

//Case: Phanteks 400 TGE //Mobo: Asus x470-F Strix //CPU: R5 2600X //CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i v2 //RAM: G-Skill RGB 3200mhz //HDD: WD Caviar Black 1tb //SSD: Samsung 970 Evo 250Gb //GPU: GTX 1050 Ti //PSU: Seasonic MII EVO m2 520W

The prodigy is a great case to build in. I have updated the OP with new pics. Spoiler: The Air 240 is not as easy to build in with ITX.
