Go to solution Solved by harrynowl,

never thought of Maplin's. Better than currys anyway.

Yea Currys/PCworld will recommend GT620 and i7 machines for gaming.

@LawrenceBarnes2013 you're best off looking at Amazon.co.uk to get an idea of what you'll have to pay for each card.

600 quid is a lot  for a card

We can get 780s for around £380 which isn't bad. Although here the R9 290 (not a craptastic reference one) is £340-350.

£380 isn't bad at all.

I could sell my cards for £400 and get a 780 or a 290 maybe a 290X.

last gen GTX 600s are sometimes still quite high though.

You won't get £400 for 2 660s :P

They go new for like £135 on Amazon these days :)

I'd just stick with them for now they hardly suck :P

recheck the signature.

2 660s for 135 and a 650 TiB for about 120 brings it to 390.

might go 800 series and get haswell refresh or whatever the next one is?

My bad. I'd wait for 800 series, only downside is like the 700 they launch expensive until AMD comes out with R9 3xx cards.

Try and find a small shop that has branched out a bit. Here in Edinburgh there's a shop called User2, they seem to have branched out a bit. Their prices aren't great, but if you're limited to what you can find in shops they probably aren't that bad, and they can order in parts for you

Defs pick up an R9 290. PowerColor, Sapphire, Gigabyte and Microstar are best. Don't get Asus, they just reuse the same cooler from the GTX, and the Radeon cards are smaller so it's very badly optimized.

FANBOY OF: PowerColor, be quiet!, Transcend, G.Skill, Phanteks

FORMERLY FANBOY OF: A-Data, Corsair, Nvidia

DEVELOPING FANBOY OF: AMD (GPUS), Intel (CPUs), ASRock
