Anyone actually use Microsoft office "Onenote"

angrylemon

so for the past couple of months ive been using this really cool program called one note, by microsoft, this is a great program, especially for school, i use this on my laptop and my gaming pc... it is great when paired with onedrive, previously called skydrive what happens is you can create a notebook and add sections to the notebook, you can then add pages to the sections and it automatically syncs to the cloud, i use it in school on my laptop and when i get home my work is waiting for me on the main pc, this is great because there is no messing about with usbs or emailing it to yourself you can also export to a word doc and add excel spreadsheets to it.... anyway i was just wondering if anyone uses it and if you dont its a great alternative to office word and i highly recommend it,

let me know if you already use it and check it out if you dont.

It's not quite a Word equivalent; doesn't have a lot of Word's functionality and customisation. Great for simple stuff though.

I use it on my phone a lot. Really handy when I need to write a quick memo or shopping lists. and of course with OneDrive,it syncs with my pc automatically. I wish I was in US though, they were giving out free 20GB

I prefer Evernote. For it's cleaner UI, the great iPad and Mac apps (plus you can access it online), and it ties in with Skitch perfectly, which I use a lot.

EDIT- I've tried one note, but I just never liked it. Or Office in general. I just find it clunky.

The company Box has frequent promotions where they give out 50GB to new customers. That's why I still use it :P

I know… Just never liked it. I prefer either iCloud, or a non-standard platform like Dropbox.

Since I use mainly Apple gear, and have no need to sync my gaming PC (Steam takes care of that :P), I just use other stuff.

It's clunky coz I don't remember all the shortcut, but I like it coz I dont have to care about saving after each update.

I don't really use it as a permanent document processing but OneNote has replaced my Notepad library entirely. I just wished I have a Win8 wacom enabled tablet now and my life would probably be perfect!!!

Heck yes I used to use it in college with me and 3 other guys. We would all use the same notebook in OneNote and share notes. Worked out great. I should check it out again and see the changes, I haven't used it in about 7 years.

I see that they only limit the file size to 250mb for free users?..Right now I have 7gb for misc stuffs and extra 3gb for photos since I upload picture taken from my WP8 phone straight to OneDrive,

Well, on occasional promotions. You'll have to keep watch.

Yup. it's what I used as a note taking application for most of my college classes. I like it a lot more than evernote and any similar services I've found. I also love that you can insert formulas and such. it makes it a lot nicer if you have a math class or something where you need that.

I recently started using it and I absolutely love it. I don't believe its fair to call it an alternative or replacement to Word, they are inherently for different tasks.

The integration with OneDrive is fantastic. All the "little things" like being able to use clickable check boxes is great, among all the other "tags".

One of my favourite features is being able to use the "Email Page" button to just automatically email that page using Outlook, to someone else and also the ability to export pages as .pdf and .docx.

The thing I like most is the integration with all the other apps in the Office suite, it just all so seamless.

My only complaint is that I noticed not all the OneNote apps on all platforms have feature parity. There are some features in desktop app that are not in the Modern UI version of the app, but it's not a huge deal.

Google Drive is again different from OneNote and not directly compatible. OneNote offers functionality that Drive does not, including and not limited to great tablet functionality.

OneNote is the best for handwritten notes, if you have a wacom enabled laptop.

I bought a thinkpad x61t and used OneNote exclusively for note taking and loved every moment of it.

never really used the program with typing.
