Headphone suggestions

xjohnny3589

I'm in need of a pair of headphones. I'm going to use them in public, so it would be nice if they looked somewhat decent. I really need them to be somewhat sturdy, because I'm going to be throwing them in and out of my backpack constantly, that being said if they were portable that would be nice aswell. Unfortunatly I have tried IEMs and other headphones and found out that in-ears/on ears make me very uncomfortable. I will also be using them for gaming. It would also be nice if they were under 150 but if it's truely worth it, I can stretch my budget. So far my best choice would be the ATH-M50, if you have any better suggestions please let me know thanks.

If you like a bassheavy sound signature, the V-Mode Crossfade LP ticks all your boxes: Sturdy build, looks (opinions opinions opinions) and decent sound quality. The M100 is a better headphone but will unfortunatly be too expensive.

If you prefer a more flat sound signature, have a look at the Sony MDR-V6 or 7506.

The Philips Uptown is also a good option.

THE signature

But there are also others that swears the M50 is the perfect choice for gaming. Personally I found it lack the wide soundstage. I found wide soundstage on a game is truly useful for 3D positional audio....

I've heard both from mutiple people , not just for gaming but in general it seems that there are people that say these are a overpriced/hyped rip off and then theres some who say thats it super amazing and the best for under 200$.

Well, it's not bad, that's for sure. It's just not as hype as what people say about it. It has a 'mainstream' characteristic, good bass, decent details, good design, and stuffs. But if the focus is just on audio quality only, there are others with better sound quality, with the same price.

Just got the Vmoda m100, they are freaking amazing, bassy, clear, great high and mids. But for gaming, i would get something that has dolby surround, better audio field.
