Screen Tearing in Ubuntu

My laptop is the HP 17-j034ca:

While scrolling and watching videos there is an annoying screen tear in the shape of a Z that goes across the screen.

I am currently looking up this issue and so far it I have discovered it is a Nvidea driver issue of some sort.

I have changed the powermizer to prefer maximum performance. I really don't care about battery life (hence the 17 inch laptop), its always plugged in.

Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

I tried using compizconfig settings manager but I don't have the frames per second slider, or the wait for vsync check box.

Java tuts:

Constructors, possibly more to come.

221 Goodbye.
