i don't really see the need to upgrade any part on this system

what make you feel this system is lacking?

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

I'd say the video card is really the only thing that needs upgrading, and that's only if you play a lot of games.

If you don't, I'd just leave it as is.

CPU is fine, not worth upgrading until the release after Broadwell I'd imagine.

Yeah, I was leaning in that direction to start out with, GPU/Monitor.   Might wait 6 more months to see where the price points are for the GPU upgrade, but monitors I have no idea how the pricing works on those, or even what model to go for at a decent price point.

For monitors look for a 1440p IPS monitor, you can find cheap versions from Korea on Ebay.

It really depends on what are your priorities, you can get a GPU to drive a possible better motherboard down the road if you are into gaming,

If you just want a better experience and don't care much about games, getting a better monitor straight up sounds like a good plan too.

Also Audio is another upgrade if you really like that path, headphones, speaker, a DAC, they are as good as any other possible upgrade.

Monitor's the only thing I'd be looking at, and even then I'd be waiting for Freesync/G-sync and LightBoost to really hit their stride.

If it were me, I'd go for a beefier gpu to drive a higher res monitor, then get a nicer monitor. Now the Asus VS247HP isnt a bad monitor, I actually have one. But, again this is just me, I want a 28" or so 1440p IPS monitor, with a VESA mount and gsync whenever that becomes a thing that I can buy. The new IPS monitor would be the main monitor, where I would game and watch movies and such, and my current vs247hp would be a secondary monitor for productivity. Other than that, its quite solid, and will be for some time to come.

Yeah i totally forgot about that, i'd deffo wait till these get going. OP your rig is solid for the time being. Hell i'm still running a MSI Twin Fzr III 570.

I do some light gaming but I can go to the highest graphics for everything I do.. I'm not keen on FPS... SWTOR is the most graphically challenging, followed by Europa Universalis IV, SimCity and The Sims III.   Only thing that will change is when they release GTA V for PC and I know the 660 will be able to play it at least, even if it's not on the top end.   So I'm gonna play it by ear.  I don't need the top of the top, but I do like to fall into cost effective improvement rather than a complete rebuild.

This comment has been driving me nuts. So I double checked, that model monitor is an IPS.  It's hard to tell from the way they put out their literature on that one, but the VS models, "most" VS models are IPS.   For the price point I got it at it's fine, but as the price drops on larger IPS monitors that's when I'll get envious and maybe add a second monitor or sell this one.  But I came from using a 17" laptop to a 24" monitor, I find it hard to look at anything smaller now though.  *shrug*
