Getting back in the game!

Steemax

Hey all, a little background first since this is my first post:

I've been building custom rigs since Leo and Patrick were on TheScreenSavers back in 2000. Those were the days!

My Last Build:

I've been out of the custom PC world for a while now. I want to say my last build was in 2008 If im not mistaken. It was an Athlon X2 build with an x1980pro ATI GPU and 2gb's of Memory.

Current:

I spent a week catching up with all the new technology and what not that I have missed out on all this time. FInally put something together thanks to Linus's Youtube channel and placed my order a couple days ago:

This is a whole brand new build with all brand new peripherals as well since for the first time I can spend a little money as I'm now working:

Case: Corsair Carbide 400r

CPU: Intel Core i7 4770K

Mobo: Gigabyte Intel Z87-HD3

Memory: Corsair Vengeance 16gb GDDR3

GPU: Gigabyte Nvidia GTX 770-OC

PSU: Corsair TX750 V2

CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i

Storage: Samsung EVO 840 500gb SSD

Monitor: AOC 2752vh 27" LED 2ms Screen

Keyboard: Corsair K70 /w Mechanical Red Cherry switches

Mouse: Corsair Vengeance M65

Speakers: Bose Companion Series 3

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit

All my parts are scheduled to arrive tomorrow. The Plan is to upload this thread with pics of the build as I go.

Can't wait to get started!!! :D

What do you plan on using it for? Work? Gaming? Video/photo work?

It'll be used for a bit of gaming: WoW, Outlast, & Battlefield, as well as work, I'll be running a few Streaming trading platforms at once. Also I stream a lot of movies/TV shows.

In that case maybe an AMD 8350 would be better. Its a baws when it comes to streaming, also I'd go with something like an RM series on the PSU.

My System Specs: (Short list) i7 4770k, GTX 780, many SSD's, a 2 TB HDD(deceased :( ), Corsair 650D. Full list: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/kchriz6097/saved/8dh7YJ

Upgrade Plan: Acquire some Black Noctuas then add 16 or 32GB of 2133MHz memory

ID change that Gigabyte card for a EVGA one.

I had already placed the order on these parts actually so i'm not sure it's worth changing it at this point right?

On the PSU it would be worth it but trying to hunt down a new motherboard and cpu would not be worth it as much.

Hmm, I'll give TD a ring and see what they can do, I hope they're good with exchanges.

So my screen, keyboard and mouse came in.

My mind exploded when I tried out the keyboard. It's my first mechanical keyboard and my god is it amazing. Never will I ever go back to using a membrane style keyboard again. My Macbook Pro keyboard I'm typing on right now feels like a $10 keyboard compared to it.

Hehe, thank you, prices have come down quite a bit so I thought it's a good choice. I don't need the ridiculous amount of space as most of my media is streaming and i also have a 2TB network drive.

My parts just came in, build went flawless and this is the first time I had a build that allowed cable management behind the mobo. Absolutely no hick-ups during this install.

Currently installing Battlefield and WoW for some testing  :D

Also installed all most current drivers, windows updates and malwarebytes/AVG.

ALSO don't mind the screen res in the last pic... Nvidia drivers weren't yet installed at the time of the pic.

Here are some pics:

Really nice build, the cable management around the cpu could be nicer.

Thanks! Yeah it was my first time with the option to utilize cable management so I'll revisit that area and tidy things up. I may replace all those fans with better ones and clean it all up then.

My Audioengine A2+ speakers came today. Set them up along with a brand new Pioneer SW-8MK2 subwoofer.

The only way to explain it is... My mind exploded. Coming from the Bose companion 2.0 and Logitech 5.1, I feel like those are $10 Insignia speakers from Bestbuy compared to this setup.

Anyway here are some pics of the A2+'s

I find it quite offending that people refer to my work as "a game" - Trevor Phillips.

Nah, jk. Nice build, got some of those sexy speakers. Internals look good aswell. Only thing I would change is those multicolored cables.

Beneath this mask there is more than flesh. Beneath this mask there is an idea, Mr. Creedy, and ideas are bulletproof.

As I get older I get angrier more cynical, meaner. I feel some warning posts coming. I feel a ban coming. I was warned.

haha thanks, and yeah the cables/cable management is still a work in progress.

I just started overclocking today. Unfortunately it seems i've received a not so lucky 4770k.

The highest i've been able to go (stable) is 4.4ghz @ 1.369v which is a bit high on the voltage side but if I go down anywhere near 1.3v everything crashes a couple minutes into Prime95.

Oh well, it's the luck of the draw I guess.
