Mechanical Keyboards

jackwins6

Well, at the moment i have a Corsair K50 keyboard, and im looking to upgrade to a mechanical one for gaming. But before i decide what switches to go for I would like to try them out. I've tried blues on my friends Razer Blackwidow. So I'm just wondering if you know of any stores where i can try them out.? (UK)

Hm, it's trickier in the UK because there aren't as many big tech shops on the high street and in shopping centres. Your best best it to find a Maplin near you - they sell mechanical keyboards and I'm sure if you asked somebody there they can get one out of the box for you to test :) Unfortunately they don't put them on display - you just have to hope they have a hole to test just one of the switches :P

If not Maplin, the e retailers like aria, ebuyer and scan all have warehouses somewhere in the UK where you can also buy products. You might be able to ask them for one to sample, if they're close to you.

Maplin and PC World are probably your best bet, but you might not have the best of luck. If you can't get to try one, what will you be using the keyboard for, do you like a stiff key press? A tactile feedback? Typing? Gaming?

PC World sell the Corsair K70, i got mine from there, you could go there and say you are interested in buying one but would like to see what the keys feel like before you buy, they might open one for you to try, the store near me allowed me to open a mouse to try out.

Or you could buy a sample switch from Amazon for £9 - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cherry-MX-Switch-Sampler/dp/B00I0VX4VS/ref=sr_1_1

PC World that I've been to had Razer Keyboards with Browns/Blues, which had opening to try them.

They had a model with blacks, but that was sealed. If you asked nicely they may allow you to try them.

To try Red/Blacks I went to Scan warehouse, though you are probably a little far from there.
