I dont want 4k

so, let me get this straight, if you had the option to choose between a 1440p korean monitor, and a 4k korean monitor, you'd pick the 1440p even if they're both 300$?

Most prefer the Qnix or XStar. Obviously spend extra for the pixel perfect. Also only get the glossy version if you're in a room with no windows(glare is terrible otherwise)

I have a shimian which is awesome. My other option would have probably been a catleap or qnix.

I have a crossover 27Q, didn't bother with the pefect pixel and I guess I got lucky. The monitor is flawless, I can't even imagine going back to a 1920x1080 monitor

evidence shown on the owners club of these monitors show that there is no benefit to buying a pixel perfect version.

I have used an x star dp2710 for the last few months and it is great. I ordered without pixel perfect and received zero dead pixels. I highly recommend the Qnix and x star(they are the exact same monitor)

If 4k korean monitors go down to 300, then 1440 will be even cheaper. Also, I have bad eyes so I don't want to deal with everything being so small

Anyone tried this monitor yet? I can't find any reviews for it thus far and yes I have looked.

Also looking at ...

I just want a monitor that is an improvement over my 1080p tv and monitor and will overclock over 100 Hz and fingers crossed hit 120 Hz but also costs a reasonable amount of money. I guess $500 including tax and shipping is the highest I'd want to go but would prefer less.

So far I'm mostly happy with the two qnix matte monitors I have. One is regular dvi the other is multi-port. you do have to deal with the panel having some minor defects from being monitor less than grade A panel or whatever. They also do not have good led dimming and the stand and the speakers... But those things havent detracted too much from the overal 1440p pls panel experience in my opinion. :)

IMO,..I would,....(until 4K is actually mainstream), the less expensive GPU needed for 1440p VS 4K is a bonus too.

Really depends on what your doing..

If I was NEVER gaming, 4K wins for productivity screen real-estate.

Gaming = I'd be using 1440p for a while until newer GPU's come into play to enable 4K @ above 60fps for less money than I'd have to pay now.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

If you guys want reviews of these cheap eBay Korean monitors:

QNIX QX2710: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/qnix_qx2710.htm

Achieva Zero-G: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/achieva_27_ips-zero-g.htm

Achieva Shimian QH300-IPSMS: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/achieva_shimian_qh300-ipsms.htm

Did Dell and others create this site to rip these Korean monitors? Seriously if they are not good enough to game on why are people continuing to buy them and game on them?

No. TFTCentral is a trusted site, that have been there years before all these cheap Korean monitor existed. Similar results can be found from AnandTech.

Well they are many difference reason why one would buy the monitor. Some are in tight budget and really wants 2560x1440 27ich monitors, other really don't care about anything else than the resolution, and probably would get a TN version of the monitor if it existed. And all that is fine. When you are stuck you are stuck. And, to be fair and truthful, it does the job. Not great, but it's cheaper in price, and people are willing to take it, and sees a good value out of it. That is fine, and should be respected.

Others is with the claim of overclocking. It started by accident where it happened that 1 model could be overclocked to 120Hz (at least what was claimed by the user), and then that disappears as the manufactures used different internal controller circuit. Then with demand, it came back, and a bunch of these manufactures uses the same board, and from what I can see, most can reach 90Hz, which they are happy (not seeing any downsides, or willing to love with the issues), and other reach 120Hz, and claim to see no issues.

Now I am not going to go in a debate on if their standards are low, or really achieve this, and what not discussion. But those are the facts measured. I'll let you make an opinion on it. Some people swear by the results they get. So, I don't have one, nor a true 120Hz to start doing comparison and share my opinion, so I won't discuss the topic.
