Under what situations would you choose one over the other? Why do you prefer one brand over the other? This is not intended to start a war, just to express why you like AMD or Intel.

Please exclude any Intel Extreme series processors

Brand doesn't matter to me, I choose based on what gives better performance. I've had several different CPUs from both Intel and AMD, starting with 486DX2 66MHz from Intel and 486DX4 120MHz from AMD.

Intel because it runs cooler, has great support and better quality.

Only time I will choose an AMD will be when going for igp performance for shoestring budget gaming PC.

I prefer Intel because they perform better in single threaded tasks. While AMD has their strong points, it's not for me because I'm not a heavy multitasker

AMD is for budget gaming builds or computers for people who just want to browse internet/watch videos. Intel has the enthusiasts/higher end gaming builds.... Two completely different categories.

I love my Intel and will always go with them, but AMD offers an amazing value for people who want to build a budget PC. They are both very good brands, and they each have their better work scenarios.

I wanted Intel, but couldn't afford their CPUs on my budget, so I bought AMD.

Amd because its better for the price also since you dont need a really strong processor for most games its fine on that end also

If you want to find the right CPU for your build don't make this polls, both teams have great products, we don't want fanboy wars.

Athlon X4 750k/760k FX 6300 FX 8320 offer great performance around the $100 mark, while Intel's i5 is unbeatable in therms of single threaded performance (gaming), and the i7 is a multi-threaded beast up to the pair of the workstation CPUs, perfect for editing and working.

Depends on pricing and availability of parts as well as what the system is being used for and what the person using it wants.

Aside from that, I consider the form factor, motherboard features/options, power consumption, noise, and performance.

This is way too broad of a question.  There are so many variables that come into play for each individual user.  I personally prefer Intel, because benchmarks show that for gaming, Intel is the superior performer.

its what ever you fell like using. I first and second computers were AMD and loved them but i felt like jumping on the Intel band wagon and I might actually stay with Intel. Keep in mind I'm a extremely heave mutitasker and use 5 monitors. mostly 1 for moives, 1 for steam and skype and the other 3 for school so i don't have switch back between webpages, PowerPoints and Word.
