With most modern components they will reach their max temperature threshold and automatically shut off. It is in now way good for the parts but they won't suddenly catch on fire while your using the computer ;)

My Current Build:

Intel i5 3570K @ 4.4GHz 1.11V, Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO, Asrock Z77 Extreme4, Corsair Vengeance 8GB 1600MHz, Samsung 840 EVO 250GB, Asus GTX 760 DCII Overclocked, Corsair CX600M

Nuclear Fallout.

But in all seriousness. It will overheat.

Do it enough and it will ruin you're components.

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

Basically the same thing that happened when my father let me play with a welder at the age of six.

"M. Aronnax." replied the Canadian, "your arguments are rotten at the foundation. You speak in the future, 'We shall be there! we shall be here!' I speak in the present, 'We are here, and we must profit by it.'"

Most modern components have an overheat shut-off feature, so it'd just shut off and then at that point, you'll need to cool your PC in one way or another..

I like the color scheme of Noctua fans. Deal with it. Forget about the bad memories of the past.

Forget about the bad memories of the past, take the good ones along with you through the present, and look forwards to the good things that will come in the future.

The apocalypse will occur and you will have to grab your gas mask and run.

It will heat up and then shut down to prevent component damage, but if it fails to do that there will be a pop, a fizzle, then the smell of burning silicon, at which point I would recommend activating the nearest fire alarm pull station followed by an immediate evacuation of the building.

If you look at the CPU you may see this:

I would not recommend overheating a computer unless you have a fire extinguisher nearby.

It starts getting hotter and hotter and hotter!  Then it explodes and your whole street will be ruined.  Just kidding, most new CPUS and other components will automatically throttle (means turning down the speed to keep cool) and can also shut itself off if the system gets to overheating temperature.

Ah yes, of course. Hurry and get the pan out of the cupboard before the PC shuts down!
