Which router would you choose?

Bugses
I'm gonna change my ISP at the start of the next month. And since they dont provide a wireless router, I'm gonna need one of those. I've never bought one myself, always used the one that came with my ISP, I dont know which one to choose though.

ASUS RT-AC66U - 190$ in my country.

ASUS RT-AC56U - 142$ in my country.

TP-link Archer C7 AC1750 - 148$ in my country.

Should I pick one of those? Or do you have something else in mind? I need something that got a stable wifi signal. I live in a house with 2 floors and I got a streaming box in my bedroom upstairs and my living room downstairs. My house is only 88 square metre, but I stream alot of movies and I hate when I have to wait for a steady signal.

Thanks in advance.

ASUS RT-AC66U is not bad but in my opinion is not worth the money, I had one and exchanged it for enterprise solutions, which work much better now. If you must have the "AC" have in mind that if you are not transferring files over the Wi Fi and really using the bandwidth it has very poor range and is not a very good solution yet. Also if you have NVidia Shield or something like that you might use it but otherwise I suggest go for a good dual band N router.

Other then that I can't say I like tp-link so cannot recommend them.

The lower end ASUS solution is not good in my opinion and you are much better of RT-N66U than it.

Cheers :)

I dont think that I need the AC. I just googled for routers and read a few reviews, and that model were one of them.

My new ISP is gonna provide me with a 60/60 connection. Both my computers are running LAN. I have a Boxee Box in my bedroom, a WDTV Live in my downstairs living room and 2 phones running on WiFi.

How about the Asus RT-N56U instead of the AC model? The Asus RT-N56U only comes with a 90$ pricetag.

I have the N66U (and also an N66R, which is same thing as the U but with different retail packaging for US stores like Best Buy).

Super happy with the N66U/R

The difference in the N56U is that it has a wifi bandwidth of 300Mbps instead of 450Mbps that you get with the N66U.

So, if your local network wifi connections could benefit from the higher 450Mbps bandwidth (if you do alot of heavy internal wifi file transfers on your local network) then you might want to consider an N66U over an N56U.  But if your local network is mostly gigabit ethernet or if you don't do alot of heavy wifi transfers on your local network, then the N56U sounds perfect. I've not used an N56U so I can't speak on it's reliability.  If it is anything like the N66U then it will be great.

The N56U will do the job I set one of those at my father's house and it is ok, the only thing is the range. You say you have a downstairs of the house so I suppose it is not a very small one. It has good range for a router just have in mind you might not cover the entire house.

About the Streaming box I have not seen it till now so I don't know what it requires but I doubt it needs more then 300Mbps also it probably has a solid Wi Fi solution in it so you should be good.

The RT-N66U has a very good range but it might be expensive depending on the time and place.

I think the N56U will work good for you so safe your money and get it instead, and defiantly don't go AC if you don't need it, anything but the best there, sucks.

Yeah, I dont transfer many files over wifi. Its usually through LAN, since both my computers are connected through LAN and so are the Synology NAS.

My house is only 88 square metres, so its not that big in my opinion. I think I'll take the N56U. Thanks for your help :)
