Why does everyone complain about their internet?

MellowCream

I have a local ISP, Easton Utilities, http://www.eastonutilities.com/SitePages/default.aspx

I get 10MBS down and 1MBS up. I can watch YouTube in 1080p, watch Netflix in 1080p, play games with 20-30 ping and host a Skype call while doing those things.

Why do I see people complaining about a 50MBS or a 75MBS connection?

Yeah it's the bandwidth cap that kills everything.

100% agree with you there. Other than slow download times for games, my 8Mb/s down and 1Mb/s up is just fine for 1080p YouTube and BF4 games with a 40-50ms ping.

Because nothing is ever good enough for people these days. I still remember my 56 kbit/s line and I am more than happy with the internet I have today. Of course I have a 100 mbit/s up and down but I have no problems with my parents 12 mbit/s connection either.

Because our internet is "up to" those speeds and you will rarely ever see those speeds. I have a 15/1 connection and most of the time I'm lucky to get 3/.5, the connection is also unreliable as all hell. For the past couple months I've been losing internet 3-4 times a week for up to an hour at a time. Given that I work from home this is a HUGE problem for me.

Those people just do it to show of their speeds, people who are complaining about 2MBS down and 0.5MBS up have acctualy someting to complain about because gaming is then hardly possible and watching youtube in 360P is not fun at all.

something like this, I hate it, I hate my ISP...

Yeah it's the bandwidth cap that kills everything.

We don't many internet packages with bandwidth caps here in the UK. Only the lowest end packages that are like £5 a month have data caps.

There's nothing wrong with our 28mpbs/7mbps connection, it's the 250GB cap that ruins it.

I complain because of what get for the money. Comparatively 20mbps DWN and 2.4mbps UP for $60/month is rip. I have no problem with the speed until someone turns on Netflix.

I don't complain at all. I live in Stockholm, Sweden and I have 100/10 Mbps at about 10-20 ms ping. My biggest fear is that it will become like in many other places of this world with data caps. If the caps are slowly introduced on my fiber line my internet habits will have to change just like it did on mobile phones when ridiculous caps at 10 GB a mouth where introduced.

I'm still running on my core i7-920

I'm honestly impressed that some costumers in 2014 still has data caps - I honestly when laughing, but quickly after got depressed.

3455493281.png

This I have with no caps. It's not near what I'm paying for, but it's all right. It's fairly reliable (only goes offline 1-2 hours a month, of which I notice, and please do keep in mind that I use it a whole lot).

I would imagine that setting up caps would make all Danes come with their pitchforks and torches, and burn the ISPs offices - generally a such thing would never be accepted, except for mobile data plans.

I'm certainly not one to be complaining in regards of my own connection, and never am.

I would like to complain but I can't because even when my connection sucks it is still better than most peoples. My parents are paying for 60 down and 15 up here, but normally get around 30 down and 11 up. It gets old when you have this speed and it gets throttled to the lower one for a day or two sometimes.

Something, something, something, famous quote, computer specs, and stuff...

How are you using 250GB a month? Thats either a huge amount of twitch or you re downloading part of your steam library every month.

I've got unlimited bandwith with 120/10 :-P

Lucky >_>

When I play games I average 80 ping with a 13/.8 connection.

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)
